Apex Legends wants to do something about players using mouse and keyboard on Xbox One and PS4. Players have been doing this for a while, and the developers are now commenting on it.
What is the problem? The shooter Apex Legends is available for PC as well as for the consoles PS4 and Xbox One. Some players use mouse and keyboard instead of the console controller for the console version.
Some players in the community view this as an unfair advantage. With a mouse, one can aim more accurately and quickly than with a controller. When fighting against controller players, there may be advantages.
Recently, there have been calls for a statement from the developer Respawn.
They have now made the weapons in Apex Legends more annoying for all players.
What does Apex Legends say about it? In an update post on Reddit, Community Manager Jayfresh_Respawn commented. He writes on the topic of mouse and keyboard on consoles:
“Our stance on this? The short answer is: We do not tolerate this. We are investigating in internal tests how we can determine if players are using it. That’s all we have to say about it right now. But we will come back to this and talk about the progress in detection. And how we will address players who use it in the future.”

- “I think those who complain about the use of keyboard and mouse on console will be very disappointed when the next console generation comes out and keyboard and mouse are fully supported. That’s the future. […]”
- “I use a controller on PC and have no problem keeping up with all the mystical keyboard and mouse users. People want an excuse at the end of the day. The difference in advantage is minimal.”
The use of keyboard and mouse as input devices in competitive games on console is controversial within the community. A player with a gamepad dominated in Apex Legends and even turned off aim assist for that.
Modern Warfare is planning this solution so that players using mouse and keyboard cannot gain an advantage over controller users:
