Destiny 2 currently has a hard time both in the community and with critics. Even the most loyal fans are increasingly turning away and are more frequently looking for alternatives to the struggling game. Many are flirting with the popular predecessor again and logging into Destiny 1.
There is turmoil surrounding Destiny 2. The majority of fans are dissatisfied with the current state of affairs and the recent developments. Many are turning their backs on the game and are intensively looking for alternatives. Although Bungie is trying to get its troubled child back on track with the help of extensive changes, most fans are slowly but surely running out of patience and also the last bit of understanding.
The community agrees: too slow, too late, too little. They are fed up with the studio’s slogans and promises. Bungie needs to finally deliver.

And the developers do not have many chances left. Most Guardians want to return only when substantial changes are implemented. These changes, however, are taking their time. Many are now looking back at the first part of the Destiny series.
Destiny – THE alternative to Destiny 2?
There is no shortage of good alternatives to Destiny 2 at the moment – that much is clear. Games like The Division, Warframe, Borderlands 2 or Monster Hunter World are currently very popular among Destiny fans as well. And more competition will follow: Anthem and The Division 2 are expected to be released by spring 2019. Borderlands 3 might also throw its ammunition belt into the ring.
But for most Guardians, the Destiny experience remains unique. The game offers a unique blend of shooter, co-op, and RPG elements that no other game has managed to replicate in a comparable form. That certain something – the Space Magic – remains unrivaled for many fans and so far is reserved only for the original. It is often said that no other title has ever captivated the Guardians quite like this – neither before nor after.
Parts of the community are convinced: For true fans, Destiny is currently unfortunately the only real alternative to Destiny 2. Often, even players who gained their first experiences in the Destiny universe with Destiny 2 and then tried the predecessor, consider the first Destiny to be the better game.
