Over the weekend, a Fortnite event took place in England. Thousands of parents were there with their children and are shocked by what was offered to them.
The Fortnite event took place at the Norfolk Showground in England last weekend, on February 16 and 17. However, it wasn’t on PCs but in real life – outside. The event was billed by the organizers as “the ultimate Battle Royale!”
It was organized by a company called Exciting Events. Epic Games, the developers of Fortnite, had nothing to do with the event.
About 3000 children showed up. The visitors are giving catastrophic reviews, many wanted their money back.
What went wrong at the event? Tickets for the live event cost between about €14 and €23. For that, visitors were offered a total of only 4 go-karts, a climbing wall, a archery area, and a “cave experience,” which according to a visitor was “a trailer no bigger than a car, with a tunnel.”
Despite the high number of visitors, the archery area was only designed for a maximum of 4 children at the same time. Only 3 children could fit on the climbing wall at once, reports The Guardian.
Additionally, there was a VR station for a maximum of one player at a time.
Visitors could even play Fortnite on PCs there, which according to reports cost money after they had paid for entry to the event and likely had to wait for several hours.
What does the organizer say about the criticism? Shaun Lord, owner of Exciting Events, says that the long wait times occurred because eight of his 19 employees were not there on Saturday. He says that he refunded everyone who requested it. However, he did not say how many people wanted their money back. They take care of each person individually, it is stated.

Visitor Comments – “It was bad, an absolute disaster”
On the event’s Facebook page, visitors show their frustration. The event page is no longer accessible now.
This event was an absolute disgrace and embarrassing, very poor and in no way what was advertised. My son and my friend were so disappointed and left after less than an hour.
My son was furious when we had to queue again to get a refund for the wristband. The wristband was of no use for the value we paid. 2 activities with a waiting time of 50 minutes each. You should be ashamed. This is not a Fortnite event. It was just used to lure people in.

It was terrible, what an absolute disaster … not as advertised! We went for the early bird option, but some things were not even prepared. The best part of the event was the burger I had. My son wanted to leave. And as for the organizer saying it went well: What an absolute joke.
It is terrible. I have a very disappointed 9-year-old. You should be ashamed.
With this event, having Fortnite in the real world probably had more success:
