To ensure you’re well prepared for the launch of the new raid in World of Warcraft, we have put together a preparation checklist at a glance. This is how you conquer Uldir!
On Wednesday, September 5, 2018, Uldir, the first raid of Battle for Azeroth, opens in normal and heroic mode. Raids are part of the endgame content in PvE and present players with a significant challenge.
Uldir: Everything You Need at a Glance
Raids can be confusing for newcomers or returning players due to their size, as between 10 and 30 players participate simultaneously. Even veterans sometimes forget things while preparing. With our checklist, you have all the important information for a successful raid at a glance.
What is Uldir? Uldir is an ancient facility of the Titans in the history of WoW. In Battle for Azeroth, Uldir is a raid with eight bosses that you can defeat to obtain loot:
- Normal difficulty: Item level 355+
- Heroic difficulty: Item level 370+
- Mythic difficulty: Item level 385+ (available from September 12)
- Raid Finder: Item level 340+ (available from September 12)
The Right Preparation
To succeed in raids, many raid leaders require proper preparation. This ensures that you extract the most from your characters and that the raid runs as smoothly as possible without significant issues.
- Get the right gear: We recommend an average item level of 335 for Uldir in normal mode. In our guide, you can learn how to gear up properly for Uldir.
- Addons: The right addons make boss fights significantly easier. We primarily recommend DeadlyBossMods and WeakAuras 2 for Uldir. Be sure to check for updates right before the raid. We have also compiled a list of the 9 most important addons for BfA for you.
- Stock up on potions and flasks: Potions provide you with powerful bonuses for a few seconds during the fight, while flasks boost your stats for an hour. We recommend bringing 40 of your best combat potions and 4 flasks for the first night.
- Cook strength food: Boosting food or “buff food” gives you a bonus to a secondary stat after eating. Some raid leaders provide “feasts” that you can partake in. If you’re not sure if you’ll get a feast, it’s best to pack 40 units of buff food just in case.
- Gems and enchants: In Uldir, you’ll get new gear with some luck. To use this gear immediately, it’s best to bring some enchant scrolls for rings and weapons, along with gems. This way, you can equip your new loot right away and replace old gear.
- Runes: This applies only to truly ambitious raiders who want to get the most out of their performance. Battle-tested enhancement runes provide you with additional primary stats. However, they are quite expensive. If gold is no issue or if you really want to give it your all, also acquire some runes before the raid.
This is How Uldir Works: The Right Guides
The mechanics and abilities of the bosses are already described in detail in the Dungeon Journal directly in the game. However, it can be hard to visualize abstract descriptions.
To be properly prepared for the fights in Uldir, it is advisable to watch videos of the fights beforehand. For guides in German, we recommend the colleagues from Vanion, who explain the bosses and tactics well with their guides. To the playlist of Uldir guides by Vanion.
For those of you who are proficient in English, we recommend the guides from FatbossTV instead. Fatboss has been creating guides for all new WoW raids for many years and explains in detail how the bosses are played as tank, healer, or DPS. To the playlist of Uldir guides by FatbossTV.
If you raid frequently, you should also take good care of your Heart of Azeroth: through the Heart, your Azerite gear becomes stronger.
