Ubisoft has teased a new shooter that is set to be revealed this evening. To warm up, there are some gameplay snippets scattered across the internet. The individual clips show scenes that strongly resemble Call of Duty – only with significant influences from The Division.
This is the situation:
- Ubisoft has released a teaser for a new shooter set in a “Tom Clancy” universe (via Twitter.com).
- The universe includes well-known series like The Division, Rainbow Six, Ghost Recon, and Splinter Cell.
- Which of these series it is has not yet been disclosed – perhaps it is “Battlecat”, a spin-off from several series.
- The game will be revealed at 20:00 German time on July 19.
- Initial gameplay suggests a PvP shooter in the style of CoD.
What kind of shooter is this? So far, Ubisoft has only revealed that a new “Tom Clancy” title is set to be unveiled this evening at 20:00. It is said to be a “brand new” title.
Although Ubisoft has not said anything further about the game, some content creators and journalists have apparently already received gameplay scenes in advance, which they have now been allowed to publish.
This is the gameplay: The clips all last between 10 and 25 seconds and show various content. In at least two scenes, a player can be seen apparently facing off against other players – so it seems to be a PvP title.
The PvP clips showcase various maps as well as abilities, gadgets, and weapons:
- the operators in the clips use shields or make themselves invisible
- grenades and proximity mines are also employed
- the weapons have various attachments that somewhat resemble Rainbow Six Siege
- at the bottom of the screen, there are various icons that apparently stand for abilities – one of them seems to be an ultimate

The clip from IGN has gathered the most clicks with over a million views. There is a close resemblance of the new game to The Division. Both assets like the yellow tarps and sounds will likely be familiar to Division players:
Even before E3 2021, there was a leak about a new shooter under the name “Battlecat”, where Splinter Cell, Division, and Ghost Recon clash. It is said to be a team-based PvP shooter – potentially, this leak pertains to this very title.
Fans demand a new Splinter Cell
Among many of the clips on Twitter and Ubisoft’s own announcement, comments keep popping up demanding a new Splinter Cell. The stealth shooter featuring agent Sam Fisher has been popular for many years.
The last installment of the series, Blacklist, was released in 2013, which was eight years ago. Fans of the series are yearning for new content. Twitter user Abdo A. for example writes: “I don’t care, announce a new Splinter Cell or spare us the excitement” (via Twitter.com).
In 2019, there was a teaser for Splinter Cell on Twitter – that seems to have just been a trolling developer.
However, the first gameplay scenes suggest that this is not about Splinter Cell or at least not necessarily classic gameplay with Sam Fisher. If this series is part of the new game, then presumably more in the form of a joint spin-off with other series.
When exactly the new game is set to be released is also not yet known. Recently, Ubisoft had to postpone some important titles multiple times, causing them to be released several months or even years after the original release date:
