A livestream of two Swedish Twitch streamers showcased not only an idyllic hike but also a rescue mission involving a helicopter, as the friends realized that the trail was turning out to be more challenging than they had anticipated.
What happened during the hike? The Swedish Twitch streamer RelicKris set out to climb the Schilthorn in the Bernese Alps alongside a fellow female streamer. With a PC strapped to his back and his companion by his side, they kicked off what would become a total of 14 hours of streaming, sponsored by the PC case manufacturer Fractal.
Initially, everything goes smoothly, even idyllic. However, after many hours, the two begin to notice the first signs of exhaustion. They take several short but also longer breaks, but then the wind picks up considerably due to the altitude, and the path becomes steeper and rockier, hardly recognizable to them.
The two find themselves at a point where they have to seriously consider their next steps. Especially since the 21-year-old female streamer begins to panic.
Just before the goal, the body sends first warning signs
How do the two handle the female streamer’s fear? While RelicKris remains optimistic and motivated enough to continue pushing forward, his friend does not budge from her spot. In the stream, you can see how the female streamer sits down to discuss the next steps.
“Just don’t look down,” says RelicKris, but his companion is trying to make him understand how dangerous the way is. The streamer realizes that she doesn’t want to go any further and explains this to the viewers in the stream: “She is like paralyzed, she is too scared to continue.”
The solution for the two streamers is, in this case, only a helicopter to pick up the frightened streamer on the mountain, as seen in a clip on Twitch. Kris initially considers flying with her and the rescue team but ultimately decides to complete his hike.
How does the streamer continue his journey? About an hour later, the streamer reaches the top of the Schilthorn and is rewarded with an impressive panorama.
He explains to his viewers that the route to the top should actually be safe. However, the path had been significantly washed away during the time between Kris’s initial research and the actual ascent.
