This week, there was a lot of information about MMORPGs in development. Teredor has entered Alpha, Roland Emmerich is making an MMORPG, and Ashes of Creation is presenting its housing system. But there have also been significant developments in WoW, New World, and Black Desert. Here’s a summary.
The highlights of the week:
- The German MMORPG Teredor has entered Alpha. The first 50 players can now get involved, but the number of participants is expected to constantly increase.
- Reign of Guilds can now be tested for free on Steam. Here, massive battles and the crowning of a king are on the agenda.
- Ashes of Creation shows its special housing system, where you can buy land and develop it according to your wishes.
This week’s discussion: Twitch streamer Asmongold claims that WoW needs a reboot – best like FFXIV. Many disagree with this statement, as WoW has problems, but it’s far from broken. What do you think?
A major update for New World, new information on two MMORPG hopes
What happened with the big MMORPGs:
- Healing in WoW has become too stressful, say many healers. The fault lies with the DPS players. Additionally, Blizzard has nerfed the new mega-dungeon for the third time, although hardly any of you have played it yet. We have summarized everything about the upcoming Patch 10.1.5 here.
- In Black Desert, there are currently codes that give you a lot of loot. You can also currently get a very useful mount completely for free (via BDO). Additionally, on July 5, the awakening of the Maegu class took place. In the future, the developers have also announced 300v300 in PvP battles (via MassivelyOP).
- In Guild Wars 2, the beta test for the new weapons for the classes took place last weekend. Until July 13, there is also a 50% discount on the old expansions. Our editor Alexander Leitsch has also written an anecdote: “5 seconds in Guild Wars 2 annoyed me so much that I haven’t forgotten it 9 years later.”
- ESO has announced a preview for the upcoming Update 39 for Monday, July 10. You can tune in at 6 PM via Twitch.
- Lost Ark has announced the big July update for next week, which is supposed to make the path to Gearscore 1,490 easier (via Lost Ark).
What happened with the small MMORPGs:
- New World has released the next major quarterly patch. Included are the first raid for 20 players, a new seasonal challenge, new crafting items, and a seasonal activity.
- Aion Classic has postponed the release of Patch 2.0 from the end of July to August to give players more time to experience the nostalgic game world (via Gameforge). Patch 2.0 will also include an increased level cap and new areas.
- EverQuest 2 is making some of its expansions free, while EverQuest 1 has announced a new expansion (via MassivelyOP).
- Albion Online is getting a new type of weapon that allows shapeshifting. You can check out how this looks in this video:
What happened with the MMORPGs in development:
- The MMORPG The Quinfall sounds too good to be true. The character editor has now been revealed and looks really impressive.
- With Pax Dei, a new sandbox hope has announced its first tests for 2023.
- Space Nation Online is a new MMORPG being developed by former Blizzard devs and director Roland Emmerich.
- Throne and Liberty is said to be better than many of us think. At least that’s what a YouTuber claims and explains his points.
- Loftia is a new MMORPG that wants to mix Stardew Valley and WoW and focus on a “cozy game world”
