In Destiny 2 there have been countless Exotics that have made the loot shooter unplayable. However, now there are two at once that are making PvP more unfair than ever. We show you what they are and what Bungie thinks about it.
What are these Exotics? The broken Exotics are the following examples from Season 16:
- Lorelei Splendor Helm – Titan Helmet
- Renewal Grips – Hunter Gauntlets
Both Exotics came with the latest expansion of Witch Queen and could be selected and obtained as a reward through the completion of the heroic story quest. Now that they have been around for a while, players have had enough time to secure a copy.
In PvE, both Exotics are popular, but they do not enjoy a good reputation in the Crucible. Players therefore called for a nerf, and Bungie has responded.
Immortal Hunters and Devastating Titans
What does the Hunter Exotic do? To understand the cries for help from the community, one must know what makes the Exotics so broken. The Renewal Grips of the Hunter simply provide a protective dome when one is in a Stasis Super ability field.
Enemies who push you in PvP with a shotgun and enter your grenade dome will hardly deal any damage to you, while you have an easy time. If a zone appears in Competitive, your opponent can often dominate the game with the grips.
What can the Titan Exotic do? The Titans received a special helmet in Witch Queen that allows the player to create Sunspots. Provided you have the Solar Sentinel Super equipped and are critically wounded.
If your Titan passes these spots, you will receive increased healing followed by faster reloading and a buff to your damage.
Bungie, however, implemented a nerf that should automatically weaken the Exotic. Now players can create Sunspots by using their barricade, but at the cost of the charged class ability.
Players who are critically wounded in PvE also lose their barricade charge and create a Sunspot.
However, this does not matter, as Titans become campers in PvP. Barricades are set up, and then Titans wait in their Sunspots to kill players with one shot. The buff allows that every single shot from a sniper, a linear fusion rifle, a shotgun, a bow, and special Exotics can kill your opponents.
The YouTuber Aztecross tested the weapon in PvP and is amazed at how unfair this Exotic is:
The difficulty, however, lies in nerfing the Exotics without affecting them in PvE. There they do a good job. But in PvP, Bungie cannot leave these Exotics as they are, and they know that.
What does Bungie say? The community manager “dmg04” therefore posted on Twitter on April 10th that Bungie’s armor team will take a closer look at the Hunter’s Renewal Grips and will provide a statement at a later time during the 16th season.
A fan then asked in the comments how the Lorelei Helm of the Titan is doing, as it also needs a major nerf to keep the game balanced and prevent it from breaking. Here, too, dmg04 responded and stated that the team is also working on it.
Players can therefore hope for a balance adjustment in PvP. However, it is still unclear when a fix will come and whether it will happen within Season 16. Bungie has not yet provided any further details. The community manager only specified that further information would come “during the season.” It remains to be seen what Bungie will come up with to prevent the armors from becoming completely useless.
