In a blog post, Twitch announced that it has acquired Curse. The goal is to build a larger community, among other things.
Curse is a mainstay in the gaming scene and has particularly made a name for itself in eSports. Among other things, Curse sponsors “League of Legends” teams. Now that Curse is a part of Twitch, it will not only help to grow the community but also assist in better connecting players with each other.
Twitch and Curse will help gamers interact with each other
In the Twitch blog post, it states:
We have long been fans of what Curse does. We know that many of you are fans of it as well. As the discussions with Curse progressed, we were able to meet their remarkable team that shares our passion for gaming. They also share the desire to enrich communities with a better gaming experience. This acquisition is intended to help equip gamers with the tools and resources they need to experience the ultimate gaming experience. Together, Curse and Twitch will help players connect with each other, interact, and exchange information.
It is currently hard to say how the merger of these two giants will affect the future of gaming. However, the possibilities that they can now offer each other are diverse. Curse currently offers 3 clients: Curse Voice, Curse Forge, and the Curse Client, which can be used to download add-ons for WoW or other games.
