Maximilian “Trymacs” Stemmler (28) is currently on Twitch with a special format: He plays Fortnite with random players and if they behave themselves, they get €50. However, one candidate refused the gift and preferred to have his peace.
What is the deal with the gift? Trymacs has been shaking things up in some of his recent streams with Random Duos in Fortnite: This means he plays with randomly assigned partners and chats with them.
The colorful battle royale is popular among younger gamers, but the behavior of the young players shocks the Twitch streamer. One video posted on Trymacs’ YouTube channel is titled “Most Awkward Round EVER!”
In the video, insults fly between the young players and Trymacs also doesn’t come out unscathed (via YouTube). This gave rise to the new format: Those who distinguish themselves through good behavior in the shared rounds receive €50 from the Twitch streamer.
However, one player refused the gift and seemed quite annoyed with Trymacs.
Doesn’t anyone want money from Trymacs?
What led to this situation? In a stream on January 19, Trymacs encountered various players again. Among them was a 21-year-old, whose somewhat bizarre responses provided a lot of entertainment and speculation in the streamer’s chat.
Viewers speculated that he must be drunk or high.
Nevertheless, Trymacs and his teammate managed to win the round. The streamer then offered his gaming partner a gift of €50, which he was happy to accept. However, Trymacs needed to add him as a friend so they could discuss the details in a shared lobby.
What went wrong? The streamer sent the friend request, but initially nothing happened. Trymacs was visibly frustrated: some were not allowed to accept the gift, others had accidentally removed him from their friends list, and the current partner was now unable to accept him.
The streamer feels that the format is no longer making sense. We have embedded a clip of the interaction here:
Trymacs gets a freezing rejection
What happened with the 21-year-old? After more than half an hour, the 21-year-old player finally accepted the friend request from Trymacs. However, the mood had changed. When Trymacs mentioned that the other would still get €50, the streamer only received an annoyed “Mhm.”
Trymacs then asked his teammate if he still wanted the money and was visibly surprised by the answer: “To be honest: No.”
The streamer is in disbelief: Then they might as well discontinue the format. His viewers find the situation somewhat funny – the guy is totally out of it and doesn’t even realize that he has won something.
Viewers annoy teammates
What was going on? The 21-year-old explained to Trymacs that “the people” were annoying him all the time, while he just wanted to play a round.
The problem lies with Trymacs’ viewers: on average, 8,498 watched the stream, with a peak of over 15,000 (via sullygnome). Whenever someone plays with the popular streamer, he is apparently inundated with thousands of friend requests.
Trymacs warns his teammates several times to ignore these requests: do not accept, preferably not even read them, as they just want to take advantage of you. Nevertheless, he cannot prevent his viewers from annoying the players.
The streamer tries to salvage the situation but is completely shut down:
Trymacs: Everything is a crisis. Well, but the round with you was still cool.
Teammate: […] Yeah.
Trymacs: All right. Then I wish you a nice weekend!
Teammate: Mhm.
Apparently, the 21-year-old had no interest left in the streamer or his viewers. It remains to be seen whether and how the format can be continued in the long term, as it has led to trouble before:
