The American Tyler “Tyler1” Steinkamp (28) is the world’s largest streamer of League of Legends on Twitch. He has now chosen Berlin as his headquarters to conquer the European LoL server “EUW” from Germany, but the man is facing difficulties. Because things run differently in Germany than at home, he asks if Germany is a Third World country or still stuck in 1940. He quickly apologizes for the comparison with Nazi Germany.
What does the man want here?
- Tyler1 streams LoL on Twitch for hours every day. Therefore, the 28-year-old continuously comes up with new challenges for himself.
- He received particular recognition in 2022 for achieving the highest rank with all 5 roles in League of Legends. Streamers typically don’t do such things. This task took him 2 years, 6,000 hours, and a lot of nerves.
- His new challenge: He wants to rank up to “Challenger” on the EUW server from scratch. He had already attempted this in South Korea and failed.
8 AM and no delivery service brings Tyler1 his breakfast kebab
This is his problem: In a stream, Tyler1 was greatly upset that he could not get the breakfast meal of his choice delivered at 8 AM on a Saturday morning “in the heart of Berlin”.
All the services he prefers in Berlin deliver no earlier than 10 AM. Leaving the room to go to a bakery or – God forbid – having breakfast with the common people seems out of the question for the streamer. At home, mom cooks for him, whom he pays handsomely as a private chef. Otherwise, he apparently gets everything delivered.
Tyler1 insists that someone brings him his “breakfast kebab” or a “bacon roll” or a “breakfast bagel.” As long as it’s something with meat.
How does he react to this? In a video compilation, it becomes evident that the frustration level of the 1.67 m tall colossus increases with his rising hunger:
- “I’m in the heart of Berlin and can’t get food at 8 AM. I’m hungry. Here’s a smartphone. Give me food suggestions.”
- “If I were in America, I’d get everything delivered to my door at 8 AM.”
- “Why can’t a fan make me a homemade roll with eggs, ham, and cheese and just deliver it to my door? Don’t you guys care about me at all, or what?”
Streamer compares Germany 2023 with Germany 1940
Then it got really weird: Towards the end of the video compilation, Tyler1 is quite surprised by Germany and the apparently lacking work ethic of the Germans.
He wonders when Germans actually work. Do they really start working at 10 AM? Breakfast should be served from 5 AM if people start working at 8 AM, the American knows.
He then complains that the delivery service cannot take the “syrup” off his food and asks if Germany is a “Third World” country or if North America is just so much better optimized:
“Come on, get with the times! It’s 2023, not 19-fucking-40. That pisses me off.”
But the mention of 1940 then went too far for him. He starts laughing when he reads the chat:
Did he just compare Germany 2023 with Germany 1940 because he couldn’t take the syrup off his blueberry pancake?
Okay… I actually didn’t know when [the world war] happened exactly. So I apologize for that. I’m sorry – I didn’t make that [comparison]. 1970 Germany!
Is there anything in Germany that he likes? Yes. He likes the tap water here. He says that the tap water is actually good and drinkable in Europe.
In North America, he would never drink from the tap and finds that all the people who drink tap water in the USA are disgusting animals and gross.
How is his challenge going? Mixed. As Dotesports reports, Tyler1 has now reached Diamond IV, an average rank, after 3 days in which he streamed for 49 hours on Twitch.
As in Korea, Tyler1 struggles with people deliberately sabotaging his streams when they recognize him.
For these stream snipers, he has a clear message:
Here’s the deal: One must realize that Tyler1 plays a role in front of the camera where he speaks “without filter” and intentionally gets upset about things and simplifies them.
In reality, he is much smarter than he seems during his “I’m not getting any food” rant. Therefore, he also immediately recoils when he realizes how the “Germany 1940” remark can be understood. He never wanted to say that and sincerely apologizes for it.
However, the fact that he doesn’t even remotely have in mind when exactly Nazi Germany and World War II were seems a bit strange – at least from a German’s perspective. It’s also normal for us to go out for breakfast and not have everything delivered.
