In EA FC 25, the Weekend League caused numerous outbursts among several Twitch streamers over the past weekend (October 18 to 20, 2024). Even the most expensive cards could not save the content creators from defeats. Even former and current world champions are struggling.
Which streamers are we talking about? The Weekend League in FC 25 drove several streamers to the brink of insanity. The following well-known German streamers for EA FC achieved the following results in the 15 games of the Champions Finals:
- Elias “EliasN97” Nerlich: 10 wins, 5 losses
- Simon “GamerBrother” Schildgen: 9 wins, 6 losses
- Niklas “WillyGamingHD” Wilson Sommer: 10 wins, 5 losses
All three streamers usually achieve better results, with GamerBrother and EliasN97 even managing 13 and 14 wins respectively this year, thus securing rank 2. The performers of the streamers fell short of their own expectations.

What did the teams of the streamers look like? The streamers mostly played absolute top cards for Ultimate Team. Accordingly, the teams they used were quite expensive:
- Team market value of EliasN97: approx. 25 million coins (top player: Icon Pele)
- Team market value of GamerBrother: approx. 13 million coins (top player: Total Rush Mbappé)
- Team market value of WillyGamingHD: approx. 16 million coins (top player: Gold Mbappé)
This was the reaction of the streamers to their records: All three streamers clearly showed their frustration in many matches. EliasN97 hit his table in anger several times during his stream, causing even his set lighting to fail temporarily. GamerBrother and WillyGamingHD both destroyed a controller each after throwing it angrily on the floor.

While GamerBrother primarily blamed his failure on his own inability, EliasN97 and WillyGamingHD especially looked for faults in the game and EA Sports. In particular, EliasN97 cited several reasons for what he believes is going wrong in FC 25.
EliasN97 criticizes the pace and defense
What problems does EliasN97 have with FC 25? He sees the biggest problem in the attacking game. He finds it much harder to create scoring opportunities than in previous FC/FIFA sections.
Even the fastest players in FC 25 lack the top speed, so they are repeatedly caught by slower defenders. This is especially noticeable after the secret sprint boost was removed from the game after the first major patch.
He also criticizes the sluggishness of the gameplay, especially the dribbling and mobility of the players. They simply do not move or turn quickly, making it difficult to create the necessary space to shoot.
At the same time, he claims that the AI of the defense is far too strong, making it very difficult to get past opposing defenders. Defenders always behave correctly automatically and close gaps in defense too quickly.
Most of the goals after the first patches thus only result from counter-attacks or (game) mistakes, which is very frustrating.

Gameplay poses difficult tasks even for world champions
That not only content creators have difficulties with the gameplay is also shown by the records of two eSports world champions.
Mohammed “MoAuba” Harkous, a former German FIFA world champion, was also only able to finish the Weekend League with a 14-1 record. However, he evaluates even more severely that the current world champion Anders Vejrgang was unable to reach 15 wins for the second week in a row.
On his X account, he wrote: “Anders has B2b (back-to-back) not achieved a 15-0 in the WL, otherwise he gets 15-0 against pros. If even he has problems scoring goals in this game, then we are also beyond help.” (via X.com)
Anders Vejrgang, who is contracted to the eSports team of Red Bull Leipzig and still holds the record for the most Weekend League matches won in a row, finished the weekend in FC 25 with a 14-1 record.
While this may seem like complaining on a high level given a single loss, it appears that players, especially those who want to play very offensive soccer, still have not quite adjusted to the conditions in FC 25.
