The Franco-Canadian streamer Félix “xQc” Lengyel (26) is one of the biggest stars on Twitch. He is known for being extremely active on stream and letting his viewers partake in his life. However, he apparently has had enough of them wanting to interfere in his relationships.
Why is everyone interested in his relationship? xQc had a rather turbulent on-off relationship with a streamer named Sammy, who goes by “adeptthebest” or “Adept”. In September, xQc announced the breakup, even though Adept had requested privacy.
Some xQc fans seemed to have had an issue with Adept for quite some time. There were mean comments about her appearance and motives. The allegation was that she was only using xQc to become famous through him.
Now, however, xQc seems to be really fed up with everyone commenting on his private relationships. In a stream, he vented about parasocial viewers wanting to dictate his life.

What relationship are we talking about now? Last week, the rumor mill was reignited when xQc invited the English streamer NYYXXII to his stream. The stream ended with a kiss between the two, but officially they did not want to label their relationship.
His viewers were still excited that xQc seemed to be over his breakup. For many, NYYXXII was a clear improvement compared to Adept. One fan even made a bizarre comparison with graphics cards (via Twitter).
However, then xQc and NYYXXII were guests on Twitch streamer Adin Ross’s stream. Quickly, clips of the party circulated, showing NYYXXII kissing another woman – easy fodder for viewers who were already predicting the soon end of the relationship.
What does xQc say about it? In a subsequent stream, xQc reacted to the clips and explained that he is not in a relationship with NYYXXII, they are just casually dating.
However, the comments from his chat about the situation seemed to get on his nerves increasingly. After enduring it for a few hours, xQc finally had enough and tried to set the record straight.
While people were getting upset online, he was just having a good time at the party, xQc said. He spent most of the night in the pool and got drunk, so he couldn’t even remember half of the events.
xQc doesn’t want his feelings dictated
What bothers xQc? He accused the gossiping viewers of being unhappy themselves and wanting to live through him. xQc himself doesn’t even know what he hopes to get out of this “dating thing”, the streamer said. But everyone is already trying to dictate his feelings:
It’s strange to see how everyone is trying to live for me, feel for me, think for me, and act for me. It’s just a strange, crazy world where everyone is trying to do everything for me. […] Everyone is trying to dictate everything for me. Even how I feel, speak, and the way I react to stuff.
xQc said he just wants to have fun and chill on stream, but his chat would be spinning stories and spreading rumors in parallel.

How was the rant received? In a kind of vicious circle, clips of xQc’s outburst spread just like the original recordings of the kiss in the LivestreamFail subreddit. While some users could empathize with the streamer’s frustration, others accused him of asking for it.
Several videos were uploaded to xQc’s YouTube channel that referred to NYYXXII as his girlfriend. By sharing every aspect of his life, he is practically inviting this behavior, according to some opinions.
Some accused xQc of farming unhealthy relationships with viewers:
I love xQc, but he can’t complain when he shares his private life with millions of people, lets his editors upload clickbait titles on YouTube, and reacts on reddit and LSF every day. He enables and cultivates the parasocial viewers and then gets upset that there are so many of them.

xQc currently has over 11 million followers on Twitch and streams several hours almost daily. It is not always easy to keep his private life out of the streams. Whether he will now take the consequences and try to draw clearer boundaries between his offline life and his work remains to be seen.
