The Twitch streamer Félix “xQc” Lengyel has bought the currently fastest gaming graphics card for his gaming setup. But it’s so big that it doesn’t fit in his PC. Now he has to figure out something else if he wants to use the graphics card.

In “Just Chatting,” he wanted to demonstrate how he installs the graphics card in his PC case. But it isn’t going as he had imagined.
On Twitch, he tried to install his new RTX 3090 into the case. But then he has to realize: “It doesn’t fit.” No matter how he turned it: The graphics card simply wouldn’t fit into the case. It was too small.

RTX 3090 from ASUS is simply too long
What is the problem? Powerful hardware requires good cooling. Especially high-end cards rely on elaborate cooling or appealing design.
The version of the RTX-3090 graphics card from ASUS relies on cooling with three fans: They need a lot of space. Therefore, this version of the graphics card is very long at 315 millimeters. Even the Founder’s Edition of the RTX-3090 measures 313 millimeters, and the ASUS variant is slightly longer.
Typical mid-range graphics cards have an average length between 240 and 280 millimeters and require two slots in the case. Slots are the openings in the case.
High-end cards can definitely break the 300 mm threshold. However, there are exceptions: for example, the Founder’s Edition of the RTX 3080 measures 285 millimeters.
In the entry-level segment, graphics cards are rarely longer than 200 millimeters, as no demanding cooling is needed here.
Twitch streamer xQc underestimated the length of the RTX 3090. Because no matter how he turns the card, either the slot cover or the cooling is in the way. The remaining components he has already installed fit without problems.
Did xQc buy the wrong case? The case is the latest model from Corsair’s Crystal series. According to official manufacturer specifications, graphics cards up to 330 millimeters in length should generally fit in the case.
However, it also depends on which components are installed. On Amazon, there are some indications regarding the case that it may still be tight for large cards and that there is relatively little space for many components.

xQc opted for a robust water cooling at the top, which, however, requires more space than the streamer had assumed.
This is mainly because he placed the fans on the bottom of the radiator. He could have avoided the space problem by installing the fans in the front.

In a second attempt, he removes the radiator of his AIO water cooling. Here he can then insert the graphics card, but the graphics card cannot be screwed to the bracket. The bracket of the graphics card does not sit properly on the case, so he cannot screw in the RTX 3090.
This is problematic because this way the weight of the graphics card puts more stress on the PCIe slot and can damage it. The graphics card is connected to the motherboard via the PCIe slot.
If you have trouble installing your graphics card in the case, do not use force or high pressure, as this could damage your expensive components or parts like the PCIe slot.
Twitch streamer fails to install an RTX 3090
Who is xQc? The Twitch streamer xQc was the most-watched streamer on Twitch last year. He is extremely often on air, but he is also a Twitch pioneer, reaching especially young viewers with his idiosyncratic style. Often, he is just on “Just Chatting,” surfing the net. These graphics cards are still coming from Nvidia
