The 36-year-old Jaryd “summit1g” Lazar was formerly active as a CS:GO professional and is now a successful streamer on Twitch. Now the content creator got engaged and proudly shared the photos, but some fans only have eyes for one detail.
What’s the story behind the trademark? To say that summit1g often wears a cap would be a gross understatement. In fact, until recently, it was an absolute rarity to see the streamer “without a top”.
Now the streamer shared photos of his engagement and astonished fans with the full head of hair that is usually hidden under the usual caps.
The former Fortnite streamer Tyler “Ninja” Blevins was known for his blue hair.
Fans focus on what matters
How did he announce his engagement? On March 26, summit1g announced his engagement to Twitch streamer Caroline aka “Lilchipmunk”. He shared two photos on Twitter with the words: “She said ‘Yes’! And I love her.”
How are the reactions? On Twitter, where summit1g announced his engagement, the comments are roughly what you would expect: Congratulations from friends, colleagues, and fans are piling up.
On Reddit, where the good news was shared in the streaming community LivestreamFail, the situation is quite different. The top comment with 1,500 upvotes reads: “Summit has hair under the cap?” and the author is not alone in this:
- CrimsonBlossom feels quite betrayed: “I’m not watching him anymore. I only watched him for the representation of bald heads in gaming.”
- NojoNinja summarizes the thoughts of many: “He wears so many caps that I thought he would be bald underneath.”
Why is this such a big deal? Even if some of the comments are likely meant to be taken with a certain wink, the 36-year-old is hardly recognizable at first glance without his caps and with a beard.
For some fans, the sight is probably so familiar that they didn’t realize that the streamer still has hair under the cap. Others simply suspected that he was trying to disguise his hair loss with the headgear.
summit1g had already disproven this in mid-March with a Twitter post, but those who may not follow the streamer that closely were still likely surprised by the sight of the full head of hair.
Surprisingly, this is not the first time the sight of hair has caused excitement among a content creator’s community. The Minecraft YouTuber Dream hid his face for years, causing fans to freak out over just a few strands of hair.
