Twitch streamer The_Happy_Hob wanted to complete Elden Ring without getting hit even once. He succeeded for over 4 hours – but at the very last second, everything goes dramatically wrong.
The Souls games from the developer studio FromSoftware are famous for their tough difficulty. However, fans of the games insist that these games are always fair. And some want to prove it.
In the Souls community, the so-called No-Hit Runs have always been a popular challenge. Here, the best players aim to complete these action RPGs without getting hit even once.
The most well-known player for this type of challenge run is The_Happy_Hob. He was very close to achieving this in Elden Ring. But it goes wrong in the most tragic way.
Watch here how a half-naked player with a pot on his head became an Elden Ring legend:
“Let’s call it a draw”
The_Happy_Hob gained attention especially at the end of 2021 when he played through all 6 Souls games available at that time in a row without getting hit even once (via YouTube).
Currently, he is trying to achieve this success in Elden Ring as well. And he was very close.
How did the streamer fail? The_Happy_Hob is fighting against the Elden Beast, the last boss in the game. One hit still stands between him and impressive success. He prepares for the final attack and already knows what will happen: “Damn, I’m dead”.
He hits the boss fatally – but is also hit. His run goes awry at the very last second. Here you can see the heartbreaking scene in the clip:
Boss and player perish simultaneously, the screen first shows a Game Over, then the victory screen. But that doesn’t matter.
At the very last second in the final boss fight, the streamer gets hit. The No-Hit Run, which took over 4 hours, has thus failed.
How does the streamer react? The streamer doesn’t say much in the clip. He holds his hand to his forehead, exhales deeply, and tries to negotiate with the game: “Let’s call it a draw.”
But this negotiation tactic obviously doesn’t work. The_Happy_Hob, now very unhappy, starts a new game and says clearly once again: “That didn’t count, I died. I can’t believe it.”
How do the viewers react? The fans of Hob were also very sad after this tragic moment. However, there was a lot of support for the streamer:
“That’s devastating, but it’s Hob, he’ll get it within a week if he tries again,” says a fan on reddit.
Many viewers are also incredibly angry at the Elden Beast. The last boss in the game has a particularly annoying attack that is hard to dodge. Therefore, it is especially frustrating for the Twitch streamer that this last hurdle can be so unpleasant.
Even in our boss ranking for Elden Ring, the Elden Beast appears negatively:
