The Twitch streamer Tyler “Tyler1” Steinkamp experienced a match live in League of Legends that didn’t seem right to him. Therefore, he scoured the statistics afterwards and found that his jungler and the opposing supporter were collaborating. The e-sports organization Team Ambition, where both players were active, reacted immediately.
What did Tyler1 notice?
- In one match, the jungler on Tyler1’s team had a weak performance. After 15 minutes, he was 0/5/0 and wasn’t even seen on the top lane where the Twitch streamer needed support – even though he obviously masters every position in the game.
- Already within the match, Tyler1 had the suspicion that something was not right. So, he scoured through the match history of the players and came across a clear inconsistency.
- The opposing supporter Chocovanille had consistently played with the player R5 Jungle in a match over the past few weeks. However, they could not register as a team since there is only a SoloQ from the rank Master onward.
- R5 Jungle was either in a team with Chocovanille and won the games or ended up on the opposing team and lost seemingly intentionally.
- The curious part: Chocovanille was apparently officially R5 Jungle’s coach.
How obvious the two have executed the joint registration is shown in Tyler1’s clip:

What exactly is the trick? Chocovanille and R5 Jungle registered for a ranked game at the same time and only played when they landed in the same match. The goal was apparently to boost Chocovanille’s ranking, as R5 Jungle deliberately lost when he ended up on the opposing team.
This cooperation is referred to as boosting and is not allowed in LoL.
What is curious about the boosting action?
- On one hand, Chocovanille proudly celebrated her rise to rank Master on Twitter. Many fans now perceive this as very bold, especially now that the cheating has come to light. Tyler1 even showed this tweet live on stream. In the meantime, the account has been set to private.
- On the other hand, Chocovanille was still the coach for the Team Ambition Sussy, the youth team of Team Ambition, until the livestream. There, she coached among others the jungler Anti, who is supposedly behind the account R5 Jungle.
Chocovanille was apparently boosted by the jungler she herself trained.
How did the esports organization react? A few hours after the stream, there was a reaction. Luis “Rey” Lagunes, Head of Staff at Team Ambition, announced on Twitter that the two were expelled from the team.
Team Ambition does not support such behavior and it violates the integrity of the organization.
Although Team Ambition is just an amateur team, it was fighting in the qualifiers for a spot in the LCS Proving Grounds, where the training teams from CLG, Cloud9, or TSM also play.
So far, there has been no statement from Chocovanille and Anti. Both have set their Twitter accounts to private, and Chocovanille even changed her account name to avoid being easily found.
While it’s possible to cheat in the queue in LoL with tricks, the MOBA is otherwise nearly free of hackers and cheaters. How is that?
