Maximilian “Trymacs” Stemmler is one of the most successful streamers on German Twitch. In a stream, he talked about New Year’s resolutions – and developed a crazy strategy to actually follow through with them.
Nicolas Stemmler, the brother of Twitch streamer Trymacs, publishes videos on psychological topics under the name How To Be Human. In one video, he dedicated himself to good resolutions for the new year and gave tips on how to stay motivated (via YouTube).
Trymacs reacted to the video in the stream and was inspired for his own resolutions.
With Pay2Win to the New Year’s Resolutions
What resolutions are we talking about? In the video from Trymacs’ brother, it is about motivating oneself with rewards to stick to the resolutions better. This has the streamer pondering: Trymacs reflects on how he could reward himself for regular jogging.
Trymacs is not too keen on the first suggestion from his community to reward himself by watching a series on Netflix. After all, one could just do that anyway, says the streamer. Then, a viewer has the bright idea:
How does Trymacs want to reward himself? From his chat, Trymacs receives the suggestion to reward himself with wall upgrades in the mobile game Clash of Clans. The streamer is immediately on board. For each round of jogging, he wants to upgrade a wall in the game with the in-game currency gems to the next level – that would cost €20 each time.
How is the idea received? Trymacs’ community is rather divided on whether the streamer can really stick to jogging with this motivation. In the comments under a clip of the streams, opinions differ:
Some joke that Trymacs will surely go jogging 20 times a day now to be able to upgrade his walls and might soon even be fit for a marathon. Others have less confidence in the streamer: they believe the walls will never reach the highest level.
What do you think about the idea of rewarding oneself with gaming? Feel free to leave a comment with your resolutions for the new year.
That Trymacs actually has perseverance has already been demonstrated by the streamer. In October, he let his chat vote on whether he should stop streaming FIFA 23 and promptly uninstalled the game. In fact, it has not been seen in his streams since then.
Whether Trymacs will also stick to jogging remains to be seen.
