Ayato Kamisato is the latest character in Genshin Impact. There was a lot of hype around the gallant swordsman beforehand, but also many doubts about his strength in the game. Twitch streamer Tectone can’t get enough of Ayato. MeinMMO tells you why.
There was already a lot of hype around Ayato Kamisato, the newest 5-star character in Genshin Impact, even before anyone had seen his face. The anticipation was so high that a short audio clip of his voice drove fans into ecstasy.
When the developers finally showed the hydro swordsman with blue hair fans immediately fell in love. However, after the leaks beforehand, there were fears that Ayato is “style over substance” – meaning he looks good but doesn’t fight strongly.
Twitch streamer Tectone extensively tested Ayato after his release in Patch 2.6 and squeals with excitement.
Twitch streamer says about Ayato: “I am so happy he lived up to the hype”
The Genshin Impact streamer Tectone tested Ayato at C0, which is the weakest possible form of Ayato. Like all other characters (with one exception), heroes in Genshin Impact become stronger when you acquire them multiple times through the gacha system.
With just one single copy of Ayato, Tectone first tested Ayato’s aesthetics and had – as expected – nothing to complain about. Especially the elemental skill of the swordsman fascinated him.
Ayato draws his sword and within seconds he makes several strikes that are so fast that a transparent “afterimage” of the character can be seen. These animations excite Tectone so much that he can’t close his mouth in awe:
This is unironically and clearly my favorite attack animation in the game, and you can just hold it down.

But this elemental skill not only looks cool. As Tectone excitedly points out, it also effortlessly takes out enemies.
The punching bag for the Twitch streamer’s tests is the poor samurai Masanori, whom Ayato crushes in mere seconds, especially with team-mates Yun Jin and Fischl.
That’s why Ayato is not just “so strong and so incredibly cool” for the streamer, he is also “one of the better C0 characters I have ever played.”
In conclusion, the streamer summarizes: “I am so happy. Ayato lived up to my hype. I am excited and this was so damn cool. What do I care about the internal cooldown when I can destroy things so easily without any elemental interactions?”
Have you tried Ayato yet? If so, what do you think of the hydro swordsman? Or are you saving your primogems for another character? Let us know in the comments.
What comes after Ayato is already known. Recently, the developers introduced the next characters for Genshin Impact:
