The Twitch streamer Quin69 attempted to find a perfect gem in Diablo Immortal during an experiment. After spending €15,000 on boosted runs, he finally found the jewel. But the 31-year-old permanently deleted his character in Diablo Immortal and uninstalled the game. He urged his fans to do the same.
This was the action:
- The New Zealand Twitch streamer Quin69 is known for his expertise in hack and slays like Path of Exile or Diablo. He also has a tendency to get banned from Twitch for silly reasons.
- For about 2 weeks, he wanted to show through self-experimentation how incredibly difficult and expensive it is to find a 5/5 gem in Diablo Immortal. For this, he undertook hours of “Pay2Win” runs in the game, investing around €15 per run. The message: Even if you spend a lot of money, you won’t get the item you want.
- For weeks, he poured money and time into Diablo Immortal. He was desperate about not being able to find the perfect 5/5 gem. After just a few days, he had already sunk €6,000 into the game.
These are the gems in Diablo Immortal – in our tier list, you can see who is currently leading among the classes:
This is how he found the gem: At almost exactly 25,000 New Zealand dollars, just over €15,000, the moment had come: Quin69 found the gem of his dreams.
In an ecstatic moment, he broke into a screaming fit when he realized what he had found.
“Everyone should stop playing Diablo Immortal – Delete all your accounts”
This is how it ended: Even in the same stream, Quin69 decided he had had enough of Diablo Immortal. He deleted his level 60 monk, into which he had put so much time and money, and uninstalled the game.
He stated:
“F*ck Blizzard. F*ck this dog shit game. F*ck the crap Everyone should stop playing. Delete your accounts! Let’s get out of here – I have no time for this nonsense.”
The enraged Twitch streamer, who gave the camera the middle finger, continued: Diablo 2 Resurrected can stay on his PC, Diablo 3 is already on thin ice, but Diablo Immortal has to go.
Protest through intense gaming and spending money
This is what’s behind it: Quin69 has spent 114 hours in Diablo over the past weeks – now he is turning to “The Quarry” (via gamepro).
Diablo Immortal has a unique position because it comes from Blizzard, a historically “good developer” in the PC space that has set standards for many years. Diablo itself is considered one of the cornerstones of PC gaming.
That’s why Diablo Immortal is being scrutinized so intensely.
Several Twitch streamers have already engaged intensively with the Pay2Win mechanics of Diablo Immortal, deciding to play the game intensely and invest money, hence fully capitalizing on the traffic rather than boycotting it.
Besides Quin69, Asmongold has also chosen this path: expressing his protest by spending a lot of money in Diablo Immortal.
