The former Overwatch professional Félix “xQc” Lengyel (26) has announced his breakup with Twitch streamer Sam “Adept” (28). She is far from pleased.
Background: The most-watched streamer on Twitch is Félix “xQc” Lengyel. He often streams for several hours a day, 7 days a week. On average, nearly 60,000 of his 11 million followers watch him. With so much public attention, it’s not easy to keep his private life truly private.
This has now led to a conflict in his relationship with Sam “adeptthebest” aka “Adept”. Adept is also active on Twitch, where she became known for roleplaying in GTA 5.
Without Twitch, the relationship between Adept and xQc probably wouldn’t have received so much public attention.
This relationship is about: Since 2021, xQc and Adept have been in an on-off relationship. After initially appearing only as roommates, they eventually went public with their relationship but broke up shortly thereafter before reconciling again.
What happened now? In a stream on September 15, xQc announced his breakup with Adept again. He justified his absence from a larger streamer event called Shitcamp, hosted by YouTuber QTCinderella.
His ex-girlfriend Adept was not at all satisfied with xQc’s portrayal and reacted in a stream of her own.
Desire for privacy is not respected
This bothers Adept: The streamer seems less annoyed by what xQc says. Instead, she is bothered that xQc made the breakup public at all. As soon as she shows xQc’s remarks in her stream, a discussion arises in her chat.
Some viewers try to defend xQc. After all, he only said nice things about Adept and even placed the blame for the breakup on himself. But that’s not what Adept cares about:
This is really uncomfortable. I don’t know why he feels the need to make things public. I asked him for privacy so you don’t do exactly what you’re doing right now. He chose to ignore my wishes and to do what the hell he wants, when the hell he wants. It’s nothing new.
Adept via Twitch
Apparently, Adept envisioned this scenario and tried to avoid it. Here, two opposites seem to collide, as xQc appears to be accustomed to sharing things very openly with his community.
From his messy room to his gambling stakes, xQc seems to have the motto “Wait, let me quickly show you this”. Adept, on the other hand, is mindful of her privacy; not much is known about her life outside Twitch.
Adept says she only wanted “rest and peace”. That xQc made the breakup public and also spoke about the reasons, she finds “disgusting”.
What do you think? Is privacy for a streamer like xQc, who spends so much time letting others participate live in his life, even realistic anymore? Feel free to leave a comment with your opinion.
