The Twitch streamer Hasan “HasanAbi” Piker had a gaming PC built for him by a well-known YouTuber. However, the YouTuber had some surprises in store for the streamer. Piker is considered politically left – and therefore his PC is now quite left-leaning.
Who is it about? The streamer Hasan “HasanAbi” Piker is an American with Turkish roots. The 29-year-old mainly streams “Just Chatting.” He is known for his politically left views and his enthusiasm for discussions. He creates a kind of CNN for the “Twitch” generation.
His glory days were during the American election, where he was one of the most-watched Twitch streamers.
This is what happened: HasanAbi apparently wanted a new gaming PC for his setup, after recently purchasing an expensive house. He reached out to the tech YouTuber Linus from Linus Tech Tips. He owns one of the most popular tech channels on YouTube. Linus launched the channel in 2008 and now has around 13 million subscribers.
But Linus didn’t just build a PC with his team. He equipped the PC with various surprises that the future owner might appreciate to varying degrees. The price of the PC is around 6000 US dollars (approximately 5200 Euros).
Linus builds a left-leaning gaming PC for a left-leaning streamer
This is the PC Linus built: In his video, Linus shows how he assembles the gaming PC for HasanAbi. Linus is aware of the streamer’s political orientation and has come up with various “features” for the PC:
- If Piker tries to type the letter “A” on the keyboard, it always writes AOC. AOC is an acronym for the left-wing congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who looked into the gaming and streaming world.
- Whenever he uses the computer, part of the processor’s power is “donated.”
- Linus removed the left feet of the PC so that it stands slightly tilted to the left, emphasizing its political inclination.
- The PC is also almost entirely red: the processor and graphics card are from AMD (Team Red), and Linus used components that all look red. Red is the classic color of socialism.
What is the highlight? Once Piker boots the computer and enters the password, the Russian national anthem starts playing. The streamer has to listen to this anthem for a full 90 seconds before he can do anything on his computer.
Especially cruel: If he tries to stop the anthem, Windows Explorer and all of Windows’ menus don’t work. Only when Piker restarts the computer and listens to the anthem completely can he use the PC properly. You can see what that looks like in the official video from Linus Tech Tips starting at minute 9:10:
That’s why the PC costs 6000 dollars: Linus only uses high-end components in this gaming PC. These include the fastest processor currently available from AMD, combined with AMD’s fastest graphics card:
- ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII Extreme (motherboard)
- AMD Ryzen 9 5950 X (processor)
- Crucial Ballistix 32 GB [2x 16 GB] DDR4-3600 (RAM)
- Samsung 970 EVO Plus, 1 TB (hard drive)
- Nocuta NA-HC3 (CPU cooler)
- MSI Gaming X Trio RX 6900 XT (graphics card)
For the processor, you currently need to pay around 750 Euros, while the MSI Gaming X Trio RX 6900 XT costs around 1549 Euros (via geizhals.de).
HasanAbi is incredulous about his leftist computer
This is the streamer’s reaction: The streamer has since watched a podcast where Linus talks about the PC. HasanAbi appears to be unimpressed by the whole act.
Because he does not like the fact that his PC not only shares his political orientation but also embodies it. Accordingly, he angrily swears in his video when he hears and sees what Linus has come up with for the PC.
Linus explained in a podcast: “And if he tries to stop it [the anthem], your Windows Explorer won’t load, and he has to restart the computer and listen to the anthem. “
Hasan watched this with a mix of horror and amusement. He said: “Wait, is he serious?! What is this shit! No chance.” When Linus adds that this is a 6000-dollar PC missing two feet, HasanAbi cursed: “What the hell, man!”
What do you think of the act? Is it a funny prank to annoy a streamer, or does the act go too far for you? Let us know in the comments and discuss it with other users.
By the way, this is not the first time Linus has “messed” with a Twitch streamer. His last opponent was none other than Félix “xQc” Lengyel, who failed while building his own gaming PC:
