In League of Legends , the Twitch streamer Joseph Oscedo Hursey is known as “Cowsep”. He is a “One Trick Pony”, he only plays a single champion: Master Yi. However, he believes that the champion is in worse shape than ever in LoL. This also affects his career. But switching champions? Never!
What makes the streamer Cowsep so special:
- In LoL there are “One Trick Ponies” (OTP) – these are players who specialize in only one of the more than 160 champions in League of Legends. Whenever they have the opportunity, they always play this champion – whether it suits the rest of the team or not. They often have to endure some insults for this.
- Cowsep is completely devoted to the champion “Master Yi”, actually a classic “starter champion” known as a newbie killer in the beginner areas.
- Cowsep has been playing LoL since 2009 and has lived in South Korea since 2012. On Twitch, he has about 720,000 followers, with an average of 1,000 people watching him. Last year, he was on air for over 1,550 hours.

LoL nerfs Master Yi for killing too many beginners
This champion he is dedicated to: Master Yi is one of the original champions in LoL, he has been in the game since 2009 and costs only 450 Blue Essence – practically everyone can buy the champ right from the start.
Master Yi is a kind of samurai melee fighter with the ability to heal himself and deal “True Damage”: He is a tank killer and is used in the top lane or jungle.
Especially in the beginner and “Low Elo” area, Master Yi is considered a strong character. But in March 2022, Riot Games had enough and brought out the big nerf: Before that, Master Yi benefited greatly from “On Hit” effects.
Since the nerf, Master Yi is practically considered “unplayable.”
This is what he says about the state of his champion: Cowsep knows better than anyone else how bad the condition of his only champion has been for some months now. In an interview with Inven, he explains:
Right now, Master Yi is in the worst state I have ever seen him. I play in Korea, and in the current ELO I am playing, Master Yi has a win rate of 41%. I have never seen such a bad champ. He is really bad.
Cowsep believes that Master Yi will soon receive a major update. But that will take some patches.
Cowsep advises his viewers to just play Master Yi for fun, especially in “low Elo” he is still quite okay. However, the higher you play with him, the worse it gets. Players should take comfort in the fact that he now has a low ban rate.

How does this affect his streaming career? Cowsep says the Yi-nerf has hit him hardest on YouTube: People just don’t search for videos about the champion that much anymore:
That’s the downside of being a one-trick pony. It really sucks. You are at the mercy of the patches and how your champ performs.
If you don’t play your champ, even fewer people will watch. That’s bad too. Ultimately, your goal is to move away from that.
But Cowsep’s problem is: He just likes the champion so much that he can’t stop playing him.
One day he might want to expand and try out other champs like Volibear or Wukong.
He looks with envy at people who can simply switch to trendy meta champions:
It’s a difference like day and night: How hard I have to struggle in this game [with Master Yi]. When you play these meta champions… they just play themselves.
Cowsep doesn’t have a concrete time when he will leave Master Yi and switch to one of those cool meta champions. He just says: One day he will do it!
At the moment, he finds variety mainly by switching servers – since he doesn’t want to switch champions.
