Asmongold’s adventures in Final Fantasy XIV continue to entertain – notably when the streamer completely loses it.
Some habits are hard to shake for MMORPG players. This includes the frustration over a nearly failed boss kill. However, few streamers get as entertainingly worked up as Asmongold does. He failed at 0.1% of a boss’s remaining health points – and completely loses it.
Who is Asmongold? Asmongold is one of the most well-known streamers on Twitch. He was originally known as a “WoW streamer”, but in recent weeks he has been playing more Final Fantasy XIV. His – at least temporary – switch to Final Fantasy triggered a wave of viewers and new players, bringing many new viewers to Final Fantasy on Twitch.
What happened? Asmongold and his group were just mastering the raid “The Final Coil of Bahamut” and were fighting the boss Kaliya. Essentially, the boss fight was going well, and the group was able to take most of the boss’s health points – but not all.
At 1% of the boss’s remaining HP, only 2 out of the 8 group members are left. Tense, Asmongold counts down Kaliya’s remaining health points, his expression tense. 0.9%, 0.4% – but it’s just not enough.
At 0.1% of the remaining health points, the boss casts his spell “Nerve Cloud”, killing the last two players. This doesn’t sit well with Asmongold, and he slips into a small rage, accompanied by clear verbal outbursts – just what makes it entertaining.
More about Asmongold is sure to come soon: Moments like these are likely to be seen more frequently in the coming weeks, as Asmongold still has a lot of content ahead of him in Final Fantasy. He still has to get through Heavensward, Stormblood, and Shadowbringers to finish the story – and in a few months, the next expansion “Endwalker” will also be coming, which will again bring with it many hours of story.
The frustration over a narrowly missed boss kill is something everyone can relate to. Because similarly, the WoW professionals from Echo reacted in the same way last night.
