Michael “shroud” Grzesiek (27) is the largest streamer for New World in the last 90 days on Twitch. He is concerned about the next tier of gear that is supposed to come with the patch in January for New World. Because if the rewards are bad, he wants to quit. But he has heard how Amazon wants to ensure that there are good rewards.
Who is shroud?
- shroud is one of the largest and most important broadcasters on Twitch. He has been on the streaming platform since 2012 and has always been successful as a former CS:GO pro. When he made a detour to Mixer, he was well compensated.
- In fact, shroud is a shooter player. His passion, however, belongs to MMORPGs. He loves WoW and also New World. In the last 90 days, he was the largest streamer for Amazon’s new MMORPG New World on Twitch.
- shroud is still playing New World to prepare for the big patch in January. He believes that hard content will come, for which you need to farm strong gear now.
Upgrade items easily with the big patch
What rumor has he heard? In a stream, shroud shares how a new item system is supposed to work once the new content arrives.
He says: A rumor says that “Mutation Shards” are coming into the game, allowing the player to keep their current gear and upgrade to new stats:
The rumor is: When 620 comes, you will get such shards in the mutations, and the shards simply increase the gear score of your existing equipment. It’s more of a guarantee: I have a good item, I do a series of mutations and bring it from 600 to 605, to 610, and so on.
So it would be a similar system to Destiny, where you can upgrade existing items.
Without better rewards, shroud is gone: “Why should I play this?”
How important is this to him? For shroud, such a system seems essential. Because he has already announced: Should Amazon disappoint in the next patch and bring difficult content but no better rewards, he will quit New World.
He sees no point in doing difficult content if there are no good rewards.
How likely is the rumor? shroud is considered someone who is excellently informed and maintains good relationships with game studios:
- It’s quite conceivable that he heard “this rumor” in a confidential conversation with the developers, from which he cannot report.
- However, it is also quite possible that he actually picked it up somewhere and there’s nothing to it.
In any case, the solution seems plausible. Because with such a “scalable” regulation, new, desirable rewards can emerge quickly without Amazon having to design and introduce dozens of new items into the game right away.
