A Twitch streamer insults players in Marvel Rivals, who take on one of the most thankless roles in hero shooters. They have had enough – and are going on strike.
An angry tirade from Twitch streamer Vladan “Necros” Konstantinov now calls for support players in Marvel Rivals to go on strike. Necros said in a stream that he “hates” support players and that they are “idiots.” You can see a clip of this on YouTube.
That’s why I hate support players, guys. I hate support players because they literally react allergically to good opinions. They are just idiots, they are stupid, and I damn hate them.
Support players call for a strike in Marvel Rivals
Why is this a problem? Necros is not just any small streamer in the Marvel Rivals cosmos: Over 800,000 people follow him on his Twitch channel. So when he talks about support players like this, it spreads quickly.
“This kind of statement, when it comes from a prominent voice in the community, causes real damage,” writes Reddit user Revolutionary-Ad6480 in a post on r/marvelrivals. This post has now received over 12,000 likes.
The poster himself plays support and shares that he was recently insulted in voice chat – even referencing the streamer’s comments:
In a match recently, I played support and didn’t do badly […] Nonetheless, someone in voice chat told me: “Necros was right, you support players are all brain dead.”
He and other support players are not trying to claim that support is the hardest role – “because, to be honest, we are not.” “We just want basic respect,” says Revolutionary-Ad6480 and calls for a support “strike.”
Neither their teammates nor the game seem to like supports
Hated by teammates and neglected by the game: Support players often have a double struggle in Marvel Rivals. Not only do their own teammates complain – the game itself consistently penalizes its supports.
- The number of kills is more valuable to the ranking system than healing or damage reduction, punishing supports for their role.
- Support heroes have continually been nerfed in recent seasons, meaning they have become weaker.
How big this strike will actually become is unclear. Whether you will soon have trouble finding a support for your group remains to be seen.
