The Twitch streamer Squeezie organized a Grand Prix in Formula 4. Eleven teams with two drivers each participated in the GP Explorer. The race drivers were predominantly influencers, YouTubers, and streamers from France. The event broke several records and had the third most viewers for the entire year 2022.
What exactly was the race about?
- On October 8, 22 well-known content creators competed against each other in a Formula 4 car race. This took place on the legendary Le Mans Circuit, where races have been held every year since 1923.
- The livestream started around 7:00 AM and ran for over ten hours. There was a qualifying session, an accident without injuries, and a big finale.
- The winner was eventually Sylvain Levy, who co-runs the YouTube channel Vilebrequin – which is all about cars. However, it was only by tenths of a second that he edged out the second place. By the way, his teammate Pierre, also a member of Vilebrequin, finished last, having over 4 laps behind.
The event already had decent viewership numbers at the beginning, but broke the record for the most viewers ever watching a French stream by the finale.
In Germany, the go-kart event by PietSmiet had nearly 40,000 viewers at the end of 2021:
Over 3 million hours were watched live
How many watched the racing event? On average, 377,468 people were constantly watching during the livestream (via sullygnome). This is particularly remarkable, as the stream lasted over ten hours. In total, the stream achieved over three million watched hours.
During the grand finale, at its peak, 1,018,817 people tuned in simultaneously. This clearly broke the old French record, which was 707,071 simultaneous viewers. Additionally, over 20,000 people watched live at the racetrack.

In overall comparison on Twitch, the event performed very well. In 2022, there were only two events that were larger:
- The Spanish streamer Ibai broke the all-time record for the most viewers in 2022. 3.35 million watched his boxing event simultaneously.
- Additionally, the streamer TheGrefg reached 1,060,999 viewers at the ESLAND Awards in January 2022. This was a ceremony honoring Spanish and Latin American content creators.
What is the record for German streamers? The German record is held by streamer Trymacs with 365,000 simultaneous viewers (via TwitchTracker). On January 30, 2021, the streamer opened Pokémon card packs from the first generation together with Papaplatte. This earned him this record.
Can you watch the racing event afterwards? Yes, currently only on Squeezie’s Twitch channel. However, in order to see the recordings there, you need a subscription. Those who want to watch without a subscription have to wait for the recording, which is to be released later on YouTube. However, the entire event took place in French.
What do you think about these huge events that streamers are now hosting? Do you find them exciting, or would you prefer a focus solely on gaming on Twitch? Feel free to write it in the comments.
