The Twitch streamer Quin69 played for several hours with his monk in Season 23 of Diablo 3. But then a crash came that ruined everything.
What is going on in Diablo 3? Last Friday, Diablo 3 launched the new Season 23. Many players and streamers created new characters for this occasion, which they are now leveling and equipping. Among them is Twitch streamer Quin69. He played a monk in Hardcore mode until he was surprised by a nasty crash.
If you create a hero in Diablo 3, you can choose to play in Softcore mode (standard) or Hardcore mode. The Hardcore mode means that you lose your character permanently if it dies just once.
In Softcore mode, however, you can die as often as you want.
Many play Hardcore mode for a special thrill and an additional challenge in Diablo 3.
Quin69 stunned after the death
This is what happened: In his stream on April 5, just 3 days after the start of Season 23, streamer Quin69 was playing with his monk in a Greater Nephalem Rift at level 92 in Hardcore mode.
In the last 3 days, Quin69 streamed 20 hours of Diablo 3 on his Twitch channel (via sullygnome.com). This playtime was divided among different characters. With the affected monk, he played for almost 9 hours.
Just as he was killing enough enemies to summon the Rift boss, the screen suddenly froze. The streamer repeatedly asks, “Am I dead?” as he looks at the frozen screen of Diablo 3. He then ended the game via the task manager and restarted it.
At the hero selection, then the bitter awakening: Yes, his character is dead and therefore permanently unusable for the season. Hours of farming are thus lost.
This is how Quin reacted: He sank into his chair, yelled “no,” and repeatedly cursed while his viewers made fun of the streamer in the texts of their donations. “This is not funny. […] everything is gone, all my gems […], this is complete bullshit.”
Then his viewers wanted to encourage him to continue playing. “Dude, I just lost everything. I played all night and was about to go to sleep. I grinded and grinded until I reached Torment 10. And then my character was killed by something. I don’t even know what it was, the game crashed.”
After that, he explains why this is so bitter for him.
- He lost all his legendary gems with the highest levels
- He used all the materials he farmed with his other characters to equip the monk, which is now destroyed forever [for the season]
- This made him ready to compete for the 1st place in the leaderboard
- And then his game crashes and everything is gone
When suggested to grind even harder now, the streamer replies: “And what if that happens again? Will my game just crash again?”
Crashes are a known issue in Diablo 3
This is what players are saying: On reddit, the crash of Quin69 is being discussed extensively. Players mention that this type of unexplained crash has been an issue in Diablo 3 for a while, which simply has not yet been fixed.
- “This bug is over a year old now. It’s really sad that it hasn’t been fixed yet. It makes Hardcore really not an option,” writes Nagnz (via reddit)
- “That’s exactly why I stopped playing Hardcore. I experience these freezes quite often,” writes tehjoch (via reddit)
- “Honestly, I don’t understand why anyone would play Hardcore on this game. Your skill means nothing when you’re reliant on an active internet connection to stay alive,” says sockofillrepute (via reddit)
Is there a solution? A solution that works for some players is a setting in the sound options. Reducing the number of channels is said to minimize or even fix stuttering and lags.
With this setting, you can get rid of annoying lags in Season 23 of Diablo 3.
