The Twitch streamer Maximilian “HandOfBlood” Knabe wants to test the new Anno 117: Pax Romana in his stream, but digital amnesia is holding him back as he cannot remember his password. He needs it for the Ubisoft account, as only then can games from the publisher be played.
What kind of obstacle is this? When HandOfBlood wants to try the new Anno 117: Pax Romana together with his viewers in his Twitch stream, he is interrupted by a pop-up window: He is asked to log in to his Ubisoft Connect account.
Ubisoft has its own launcher: Ubisoft Connect, which was called Uplay until 2020. Games published by Ubisoft are bought, installed, started, and updated through this launcher. So anyone who wants to play a Ubisoft game must create an account there.
“I just want to play Anno”
What is HandOfBlood trying? For HandOfBlood, signing up is more complicated than expected, as he cannot remember either his used email address or his password. The Twitch streamer seems to be trying various options until his account is blocked due to too many login attempts.
Eventually, HandOfBlood resigns himself to his now old account and wants to create a new one instead. First, he needs to find a name that is not already taken, then he sets a password and wants to log in.
However, Ubisoft has not only blocked the account of the Twitch streamer in the meantime, but, according to HandOfBlood, has also banned his entire IP address directly. HandOfBlood seems slightly desperate as he says: “I just want to play Anno” (source: YouTube) and later yells: “Ubisoft! Let me in!” (source: YouTube).
HandOfBlood writes to customer service, but there he does not receive a direct response, only a reassuring email saying that he will be contacted soon. The Twitch streamer tries to call the provided phone numbers, but to no avail.
When the Twitch streamer attempts his login again shortly thereafter, the publisher lets him through and HandOfBlood can finally play Anno.

The community empathizes: In the comments under the YouTube Short, there are numerous voices from the community who can relate to HandOfBlood’s frustration. d4vidyo confirms that every sign-up would go exactly like this, and Zero1831 indirectly agrees, stating that every gamer has experienced this feeling.
The user skolex3121 sums it up well: “It would be great advertising for a password manager.”
A small insight, completely without the hassle of signing up with Ubisoft, was gained by the Twitch streamer Maurice Weber. You can read his assessment of several hours in the building game here on MeinMMO: German building expert used every reason to be able to play the new Anno, so he ends up with more hours than anyone else
