Gronkh as a voice in the new mining update
How was the streamer integrated into the update? On June 6, 2024, the developers of “Pioneers of Pagonia” surprised their fans with a post on the social media platform X. In this post, they introduced the new mining update with a small trailer, which will be released on June 25, 2024.
Especially exciting for the fans: Gronkh’s voice can also be heard in this trailer, where he voiced various sounds for a geologist. From humming to little songs to whistling and various exclamations like “Ah” and “Oh” – Gronkh’s voice is present in many details of the game.
However, the highlight of the update was a part where the geologist sings a specific little song: “Coal, Coal, Coal.”
The origin of the song “Coal, Coal, Coal”
What is the origin of this running gag? The song “Coal, Coal, Coal” originated during Gronkh’s Minecraft Let’s Plays.
This song quickly became a running gag and remained in the memory of many fans (via Gronkh Wiki). The scene from episode 49 of his Minecraft series became particularly famous: While Gronkh was wandering around the map, he discovered a cave and immediately began mining coal, singing:
Coal, coal, coal – coal, coal, coal!
Coal, coal, coal – coal, coal, coal!
Cool coal – la, la, la!
Cool coal – tralala!
Coal, coal, coal – coal, coal, coal!
Coal, coal – coal, coal, coal!
Coal, coal, shubdiduu…
Now this legendary coal song has also found its way into “Pioneers of Pagonia” and provides a funny and nostalgic moment for those who know and love Gronkh’s streams.
“This is what you would expect from Settlers”
Why does the streamer like the game? Gronkh has always been a big fan of the Settlers series. That’s why he was particularly excited when he found out that Volker Wertich, one of the pioneers of the Settlers series, was involved in the development of “Pioneers of Pagonia.”
During the game’s presentation, when he reacted live in a stream to the trailer, Gronkh clearly expressed his anticipation. He said that “Pioneers of Pagonia” could be the game that one would expect from Settlers.
During the stream, he excitedly listed some of the buildings that looked familiar to him and added: “I see paths, I see the settlers running around here with little boxes. There are carriers, and there are even people talking. This is what you would expect from Settlers. I also see farms back there.”
