The largest streamer on Twitch is Imane “Pokimane” Anys. About a month ago, she reacted strongly to a YouTube video that accused her of exploiting lonely men in her community. She then attacked the sponsor behind the video – which is usually a taboo. Now she explains why she reacted so harshly.
What was that video about? The YouTuber and comedian “Itsagundam” released a video on May 13 titled “Simp willingly goes homeless for Pokimane.” The video has now garnered more than 704,000 views on YouTube.
In the video, the YouTuber showed tweets and images of men describing what they have given up for Pokimane. In the tweets, these alleged “simps” say how much money they donate to Pokimane and what they hope to receive in return from her.

Pokimane attacks sponsor behind video – a taboo break
This is how Pokimane reacted to the video: The streamer seemed to be deeply affected by the video. She did not see it as funny, but as an attack on her person and her community.
The streamer distanced herself from the allegations in the video. She said she would not “exploit lonely men for money,” but would always maintain distance and only show gratitude.
In a stream on Twitch, she also attacked the sponsor of the video from “Itsagundam,” the company Ridge Wallet:
I mean, a company that sponsors a video that talks shit about me for 20 minutes… hey, your website is so slow that it doesn’t even load. But if you ever contact me, I will immediately… [Note: She makes wild gestures]. No company should ever do something like that.
Hey, is this a video where some guy behind a VR machine calls a girl a slut for 20 minutes? I want my logo on that!
Pokimane
Here’s why it’s controversial: It is frowned upon among content creators to attack the sponsors behind such videos, as it ultimately jeopardizes the financial foundation of a “colleague.”
For her attack on the sponsor, Pokimane was criticized by other content creators, fans of the YouTuber, and some others (via dexerto).
Pokimane believes the video could traumatize fans
This is what Pokimane says now: After Pokimane has now closed new deals, the topic of “attacking sponsors” has come up again.
The streamer states that she finds it wrong to attack someone or their sponsor just because you disagree with them.
But content that spreads lies, insults, and misinformation and insults people based solely on their appearance should not be sponsored. That could traumatize people and fans and lead to unnecessary hatred.
She said the YouTuber took funny tweets and spun a wild and false story from them.
This is how the YouTuber reacts: The YouTuber “Itsagundam” feels unjustly attacked. He claims he only made jokes and wanted to show funny tweets that were apparently ironic in nature.
Pokimane, with over 5 million followers, is by far the largest and most successful streamer on Twitch. Therefore, the focus is also on her actions and responses.
The attacks against her and how she reacted were widely observed and commented on, even by us on MeinMMO:
