The Twitch streamer Guy “DrDisrespect” Beahm is older than most of his colleagues on Twitch. Younger Twitch streamers have recently reacted to his comments with the phrase “Ok Boomer.” This seems to be getting to him, a poor guy in PUBG has to deal with it.
How old is DrDisrepect? Guy Beahm was born in March 1982 – he is 37 years old. Most other big streamers on Twitch or Mixer are about 10 (Ninja, 28) or 15 years (Tfue, 21) younger than him.
And lately, they are politely reminding him when “Pops” gets really upset.
Ok Boomer
This is the conflict: About a week ago, DrDisrespect posted: He is tired of seeing Twitch streamer Felix “xQc” Lengyel (24) play Pokémon while 30,000 people watch him. For DrDisrespect, Pokémon apparently isn’t entertainment.
xQc’s response: “Ok boomer.”
DrDisrespect reacted as usual with a wild curse and the threat that they now have a feud.
As it goes on the internet, this spread, and people started teasing DrDisrespect with “Boomer”. For example, there is a Twitch clip of him where he does something silly in Fortnite and blows himself up. The clip is titled “Boomer Moment.”
What does “Ok boomer” mean? The term “boomer” refers to the generational label “Baby Boomer,” referring to people born between the 1940s and 1960s. They would now be at least in their late 50s.
“Ok boomer” is an expression used to indicate that someone “doesn’t understand the present time”; it’s often used by younger people to dismiss criticism from older individuals: it’s strange talk that doesn’t need to be taken seriously.
How does the Doctor vent his anger? That this “Boomer” bothers him or at least occupies his mind was noticed by viewers of his stream later. DrDisrespect played PUBG yesterday, driving around quite angrily and caught an enemy.
He asked: “Am I a Boomer? Am I a Boomer?” Then he knocked the poor enemy down and shouted “Boom Boom” – much to the delight of the Twitch chat, who enjoyed this reference.
This is what happened next: Yesterday, Elon Musk presented a new pickup truck for Tesla. DrDisrespect tweeted that it was the ugliest thing he had ever seen.
In response, TimTheTatman (28) obviously replied with “Ok boomer”. DrDisrespect accuses him in return of still playing Fortnite.
