As a Twitch streamer, Carsten alias Elotrix
(31) earns his living by playing video games. However, there is one game he wouldn’t play even for money: the new EA FC 24, as well as its FIFA predecessor.
What does Elotrix have against FIFA? As a sports game, the football series does not particularly appeal to the streamer anyway. If it also has EA on the label, it seems to be out of the question for him. However, in a recent stream, Elotrix mentions another reason why he is “1,000 %” sure he will never play EAFC: “Even if they offered me a placement, I wouldn’t play it.”
For him, the franchise is pretty much the worst that exists in the Pay2Win gaming market. Every year, little football fans are ripped off.
However, Elotrix criticizes not only the game itself but also some of his streaming colleagues who create content with it. This includes his good buddy MontanaBlack.
In particular, the Ultimate Team is criticized in FIFA/EAFC:
“Multimillionaires gamble away the annual income of viewers”
What bothers him about his colleagues? Elotrix emphasizes that he doesn’t mean any harm to his Twitch colleagues, but it is “completely surreal” the amounts being poured into the game: “Content creators who are multimillionaires and then gamble away, in a stream, the annual income – not monthly income, but annual income – of normal viewers.”
What particularly seems to bother the streamer is that it is portrayed as downright normal to throw away such huge sums. He goes so far as to say: “It disgusts me.” You can see a recording of the clip here:
Elotrix explains that he would never waste the money he earns from the dream job
of streaming on something like that. The streamer – not necessarily known for his calm manner – probably has to pull himself together every year anew not to constantly complain about this behavior.
A colleague who might feel addressed by Elotrix is Maximilian Stemmler alias Trymacs. The 29-year-old is often referred to as a “Pay2Win streamer” and frequently invests huge sums in his games. In 2022, there was a major change of heart; he uninstalled FIFA during a stream and even deleted his expensive team. Now he explains why FC 24 will still be featured on his Twitch channel:
