Large parts of the community view the new info on Diablo 4 critically, including the Twitch streamer Asmongold. He is considered the biggest fan and at the same time the biggest critic of Blizzard. But the statements about item trading surprise him positively.
This is what’s happening in Diablo 4:
- Blizzard has released some new information about the monetization of Diablo 4. It includes details about the shop, cosmetics, the battle pass, and free content.
- The Twitch streamer Quin69 is somewhat puzzled by the statements, as everything in a purchased game should naturally be free for him.
- His colleague Asmongold was also critical of the shop but sees a significant “victory” in one of the latest tweets from the developers.
See here the trailer for Diablo 4:
This is what the tweet says: The community lead Adam “PezRadar” Fletcher promised on Twitter that items purchased with premium currency in Diablo 4 will not be tradable. This also includes items from the season pass.
Asmongold had previously expressed concerns that trading real-money items could represent a pay-to-win factor or disrupt the economy in the game. He thus directly inquired about this feature, and the response seems to calm him down.
Although Asmongold is always critical of Blizzard, his reaction to the tweet is: “There it is, boy. There it is. Win.”
Monetization in Diablo 4 is a hot topic for fans
Many Diablo 4 fans are happy together with Asmongold about the announcement, but some remain skeptical. Previously in Diablo Immortal, it was said that you could not buy advantages, and later it turned out differently with the legendary gems.
In the video, we explain what the legendary gems are all about:
The developers keep reiterating that Diablo 4 will be monetized differently than Diablo Immortal, however, fans have been doubting the statements and how they can be interpreted since Immortal. This is also reflected in the current status of our survey:
Diablo 4 is set to release in 2023, but a specific date is still missing. Until the release, more information on content and the shop will likely be released, but how it all really looks will probably only be known at launch or in the beta. However, there may still be some leaks beforehand:
