The famous MMORPG streamer Asmongold harshly criticizes Amazon’s upcoming MMORPG New World. According to him, it is not ready for release in August. Nevertheless, it seems that the good man cannot keep his hands off the game.
Who is it about? The famous streamer Asmongold became known through WoW, disturbed FF14, and is currently engaged with New World. Since the release of the beta, he has been playing the game almost daily, and nearly all of his streaming content revolves around Amazon’s upcoming new MMORPG. He is so present in the game that he is even being followed by players.
His streaming time for the game alone amounts to over 35 hours in the last 7 days (via Sullygnome). According to his own statement, he has already spent more than 182 hours in the game between the betas.
Nevertheless, it seems he is having serious issues with the game, as he recently noted.
Is New World ready for release?
What bothers Asmongold about New World? In a YouTube video titled “Good, but not ready”, Asmongold criticizes New World. He says among other things: “I want to be honest with you guys, [New World] is damn not ready for a release next month.” According to Asmongold, the game is “not functioning, laggy, and just broken.” He has no idea how the developers should fix it before the release.
In particular, he criticizes:
- The trading system is heavily bugged and often does not work at all. This, in turn, prevents its usage for players.
- The combat system has serious problems. The attack and movement sequences are “just terrible”. An active dodging-based combat system simply would not work in a game with latency.
What are the positive aspects? Nevertheless, Asmongold has also spoken highly of the game. Since the last beta, a lot has really improved, and they have listened to feedback. He sees this positively. Moreover, he does not want Amazon to ruin the game, as he likes it very much.
Other streamers, like shroud, praise New World for its unique, survival game-like approach. Therefore, New World, according to shroud, is likely to succeed where WoW failed.
