The Fortnite player Turner “Tfue” Tenney (22) is by far the biggest streamer on Twitch. After a rule change last week, he can now again kill beginners and constantly insult them. He loves the new matchmaking.
This is how it was all the time: In Fortnite, “skill-based matchmaking” had been activated in all modes for some time. No matter what you played, you were matched with “approximately” players of the same skill level.
For an extremely strong player like Tfue, this meant that in every match he faced other strong Fortnite players who built walls, played defensively, acted correctly, and thus turned every match into a real test of endurance.
This had taken quite a bit of fun away from Tfue and some other Fortnite streamers recently. In their view, such tough matches should only take place in the arena. They wanted to play the normal modes for relaxation, thus dominating according to their skill level.
How difficult it usually is, even for top players like Tfue, to win in Fortnite can be seen here in the Twitch clip where Tfue flames an equally matched opponent. Tfue declares that playing makes no sense at all like this.
New matchmaking in Fortnite lets sheep fight wolves again
This is the rule change: Last week, “Skill-based matchmaking” in Fortnite’s team mode was deactivated.
In the squad mode for 4 people in Fortnite, strong players can now compete against completely randomly selected other players, including weak ones.
This is what Tfue is doing now: Tfue and some other players are now, like before, “solo in squad mode.” That means: They are alone but compete against 4-player teams, which usually consist of relatively weak players who run around uncoordinated. This drives the kill numbers of top players to dizzying heights. Skilled players can achieve 30 or even 40 kills as individuals here.

Tfue can get 30 kills in the video and apparently feels like Superman again.
The tip for “normal players” is probably to avoid the squad mode at the moment, as there is a chance that you compete against much better players and feel like fodder.
Tfue has 8.16 million followers on Twitch and is by far the biggest streamer on the platform. He became popular through Fortnite, but is also considered uncontrollable. According to his own statement, Tfue never really attended school.
