The Twitch streamer Asmongold is back in World of Warcraft again. But he is just making nonsense for hours – and finds really ugly places.
The release of Patch 9.2 Eternity’s End in World of Warcraft was yesterday an occasion for many players to check out the Shadowlands again and at least scout the new area Zereth Mortis. The streamer Asmongold also took a look at the patch – but he slightly strayed from the path and discovered buggy, incomplete landscapes.
Who is Asmongold? Asmongold has long been the largest WoW streamer by numbers. He played World of Warcraft for many years but finally lost interest in Shadowlands. He used the time to play many other MMORPGs, such as Final Fantasy XIV or Lost Ark.
With Patch 9.2, Asmongold has now streamed WoW on his main channel again for the first time in a long time, to dive into the new patch together with the community.
What happened in the stream? The original plan was to take a closer look at Zereth Mortis and the new content. However, the “taking a closer look” was taken literally after just a few minutes. Instead of following the quests, Asmongold and his fellow players tried to reach the raid “Mausoleum of the First.” However, it is still locked and the island on which the raid is located can only be reached with some tricks.
After a long climbing adventure and the use of some goblin gliders, they finally managed to reach the raid – however, it could not be entered. Because although the portal already exists, the raid simply does not load when you try to enter it. You can watch the entire video of his hours-long escapade on YouTube.
Asmongold and his crew then moved on to explore more of the area. They penetrated invisible walls that were supposed to prevent players from progressing. Ultimately, they even reached a place that no player is supposed to find: the edge of the world. Here, the game world is hardly modeled and you can find solid colors and extremely blocky landscapes.
There, the journey also came to an end, as one after another the characters died as they delved deeper into this environment.
The group initially thought that a GM had manually killed the players – that had happened several times in the past when Blizzard found out that players were exploiting unintended locations. In this case, however, that did not seem to be the case, as the players had merely reached a certain threshold where characters “fall through the world” and then automatically die.
As a “reward” for this excursion, the game could not find a valid graveyard where Asmongold would respawn. This resulted in his character being teleported to Westfall. That is the “emergency graveyard” when any other form of resurrection does not work.
