The American Zack is the biggest MMORPG streamer on Twitch. In a stream on March 14, he ventured into the “Genshin Impact” category on Twitch and was promptly deceived by an apparently cute anime girl.
How did this situation arise? Asmongold became known as a WoW streamer but also deals with meta topics on Twitch and often reacts to content from Reddit during his streams. In a stream on March 14, he was just navigating his own subreddit when he came across a thread about the action RPG Genshin Impact.
In the post, a viewer brought up something that Asmongold had already addressed: the presence of Genshin Impact on Twitch does not correspond to the large community of the game, as there are hardly any big streamers (via reddit).
Asmongold promptly switched to the “Genshin Impact” category on Twitch to confirm the statements and watched the currently most viewed stream: “I don’t know if this surprises anyone, but the top streamer is a VTuber anime waifu.”
However, when he opened the stream, Asmongold was in for a surprise.

“Wait, this is a guy?”
What kind of streamer was that? Asmongold caught the stream of “OkCode,” one of the most viewed streamers of Genshin Impact (via sullygnome). OkCode is a Vtuber, so he does not show himself in streams but uses an animated avatar that reflects his facial expressions and movements.
However, OkCode is not a woman, which Asmongold quickly had to find out after he opened the stream and heard the streamer speak: “Wait, this is a guy?”
Why did OkCode look like an anime girl? Asmongold tuned into the stream at just the right moment, as OkCode was explaining that he could attract more viewers with a female model:
This chat [laughs]. I feel like by just switching to a female waifu model, I get way more views.
OkCode was also pondering out loud about possibly doing a stream where he is not heard at all, uses a female avatar, and creates a suitable voice using artificial intelligence. “You should have done that!” Asmongold exclaimed.
The MMORPG streamer finally left the stream with the words: “That just ruined my whole day” and returned to his subreddit.

His viewers had little sympathy for the streamer and laughed at him in the chat for being lured in by a supposed anime girl: that one really got him good (via Twitch). Asmongold then didn’t want to hear any more explanations that OkCode normally streams with a male model.
