The famous Twitch streamer Michael “shroud” Grzesiek is officially streaming on Mixer as of today. The streamer was at the top of Twitch for a long time. Now he is streaming for Microsoft.
What happened? Shroud announced on Twitter that he is now on Mixer, Microsoft’s streaming platform. With the simple words: “Same shroud. New home.” he announced the switch:
His stream on Mixer is already live, but currently it only shows a countdown that will end at 2:00 AM on Friday morning, German time. This aligns with the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, which may be his debut stream.
Whether the partnership is exclusive and whether shroud will no longer stream on Twitch is still unknown.
From Twitch Star to Mixer Streamer
This is the reaction to the switch: Many users on Twitter congratulated shroud on his move and wished him much success on Mixer. Among the commenters are also the biggest WoW streamer Asmongold and the official channel of Apex Legends.
The stream on Mixer is already going wild. Currently (October 24 at 7:35 PM) over 16,000 people are watching, even though nothing has happened yet. The chat is moving so fast that it’s hard to read anything.
What led to the decision? The reasons behind shroud’s switch are currently only speculation. Some users claim that Microsoft paid a hefty sum for it.
Others suspect that he just wanted to follow the footsteps of the former top-Twitch streamer Ninja, who also recently switched to Mixer and now has even more subscribers there.
What about shroud and Twitch? Shroud was last an extremely successful streamer on Twitch. In the past 30 days, he ranked 9th among the most-watched channels (via sullygnome).
Shroud became particularly known and famous through his shooter streams. There he earned the name “human aimbot”. Recently, however, he also showcased more variety and even turned to WoW Classic.
Twitch is doing better than ever. Despite Mixer’s new offensive, Twitch has increased its lead:
