The German Twitch streamer Jens “Knossi” Knossalla can now also be seen on television. However, things are not going well for the streamer and his TV show “Täglich frisch geröstet.”
The current situation for Knossi: For the streamer, things have been steadily improving in recent months:
- He became well-known at the end of 2019 through gambling streams, entertaining his viewers with loud reactions to his wins.
- After that, Knossi also became more involved in the gaming scene – Among others, MontanaBlack appeared in those streams, and he also streamed with other gaming personalities. Not just gambling, but also games like Call of Duty or party games.
- In the summer of 2020, together with rapper Sido and the Angelcamp, he set a new German viewer record on Twitch.
- He broke that record himself when he and Sido held the Horrorcamp around Halloween 2020 – At its peak, over 300,000 people watched simultaneously.
- In January, he even made it to television – Knossi became the host of the TV show “Täglich frisch geröstet,” produced by Stefan Raab.
Now, about a month after Knossi’s first own show, the future of his show on RTL does not look so bright anymore. The ratings were mostly unconvincing, and there was criticism of his show.
New time slot and poor ratings
What kind of TV show is this? “Täglich frisch geröstet” is produced by Stefan Raab and RaabTV. It is a classic late-night show that includes a stand-up at the beginning and various talk guests. Knossi is the host, leading the show and interviewing the guests.
The show has only been running since the 2nd season with Knossi. Previously, there were always changing hosts guiding the show.
In 2020, together with rappers Sido and Manny Marc and the YouTuber UnsympathischTV, he organized the Angelcamp, which was a huge success. The 4 friends met for a fishing weekend, where additional well-known streamers and musicians were invited. At that time, Knossi was even temporarily the largest streamer on Twitch worldwide.
The event was topped by the Horrorcamp at Halloween, where the 4 friends stayed overnight in a scary house and had to complete tasks.
This is how it is going right now: There have already been 10 shows hosted by Knossi. The viewership ratings mostly declined. While 1.03 million viewers watched the first episode, there were only 0.50 million viewers by episode 8. That was a market share of 3.3%.
Currently, the trend is looking up again. For episode 10, 1.03 million viewers tuned in again. It remains to be seen whether this was just a one-time occurrence or whether the numbers will indeed go back up.
A possible reason for this could be that RTL changed the broadcast date for the show. It was now first aired at night from Saturday to Sunday at 0:05 AM – a time slot that apparently suited the show better. Previously, the date was Tuesday night at 11:15 PM. In addition, there is another time slot on Thursday at 11:15 PM, which still remains.
This is how the show is received: As a Twitch star on TV, Knossi apparently does not resonate well with every viewer. A glance at the viewer numbers as well as the comments under the YouTube videos of the show is enough to see that.
Under one of the latest videos of the show, for example, it says:
- “Knossi delivers the jokes quite well, but the jokes are just completely terrible.”
- “I was shocked when I saw at the beginning that Raab seems to be sitting in the jury! That’s not true, is it? For such crap. Raab was a legend for me! And why on RTL? He always hated that.”
- “In short… Dear Mr. Raab, do it yourself or leave it. Knossi is a cool guy, no question, but not the type for a late-night show.”
Several points are criticized regarding the show. Often there is a comparison to Raab’s show TV Total. The structure of both shows is similar, and many viewers do not see Knossi in the role of Stefan Raab.
Furthermore, there is criticism of the jokes in the show. While Knossi tries to deliver them well, the jokes are simply not funny.
