The new role-playing game “Baldur’s Gate 3” presents a problem for streamers on Twitch: the game contains spicy scenes that do not comply with Twitch’s guidelines. Currently, it seems that Twitch is turning a blind eye, but even stars like Michael “shroud” Grzesiek (29) fear a ban.

What is the problem?
- In Baldur’s Gate 3, a lot happens at night in the camp when the players and NPCs are resting, which one wouldn’t normally see on Twitch. Not everyone sleeps in their own bed.
- Players can enter into romantic and sexual relationships with the companions. The scenes are not suitable for minors. This has been well-known since the infamous “bear” scene.
- While even the selection of genitals during character creation causes excitement, some sex scenes are close to triggering Twitch’s ban hammer, as streamers fear.
“Nude scenes” are a common reason for bans on Twitch
Why are streamers afraid of a ban? There are recurring stories of streamers being banned from Twitch because they were surprised by nudity or were “accidentally” naked themselves:
- For example, streamer xQc once received a ban because he was confronted with a naked “school friend” in a seemingly innocent “Connect Four” game.
- Legendary is the ban of Forsen, who bet on the wrong horse.
- Female streamers have repeatedly been banned for “unintentional nudity”.
Therefore, streamers have developed a natural fear of suddenly seeing a sex scene on Twitch and being banned for it.
This does not reflect well with advertising partners, which can be quite damaging to their careers.
“It will probably be over soon”
This is the biggest example right now: Streamer shroud is known for his skills in shooters, but his love belongs to role-playing games. shroud is now one of the biggest streamers for the release of Baldur’s Gate 3 on Twitch.
In a stream on Saturday, August 5th, he broadcasts a love scene of his character with the “evil NPC companion”, Minthara:
- shroud visibly feels uncomfortable the whole time, as the characters are seen in the act of love, but the focus is on the faces and backs of the acting figures .
- shroud reassures himself: “It will be over soon. This is like Cyberpunk, it’ll be over in a few seconds”.
- When the screen briefly goes black, he breathes a sigh of relief: “I told you it’s over”: But when the camera switches back on and shows Minthara performing oral sex, shroud has had enough and cuts the video feed.
What happens after the scene? After the scene, shroud raises both hands in the air and declares: “I didn’t sign up for this.” He then makes some helpless gestures and buries his hand in front of his face to catch his breath.
About 20 seconds after he shuts off the stream, he says to the camera: “By the way, they are still continuing.”
Are all scenes like this? The sex scenes apparently differ in their explicitness. In my game, I have conquered the warrior Lae’zel with my dragon man: the scenes are erotic, but not as explicit. It’s more about her staying for cuddling after the act.
Baldur’s Gate 3: Clip of surprised shroud goes viral
This is what makes the clip special: The clip has been viewed by over 280,000 people. Currently, the clip is still online.
Together with clips about the genital selection in Baldur’s Gate 3, it is the most popular. The game seems to really set new standards, not only in quality but also in what is shown on Twitch.
shroud is actually known as a very “clean streamer” who risks nothing. His behavior shows that he is quite uncomfortable with the scene and did not intend to gamble that high. He would very much like to continue showing Baldur’s Gate 3 in his streams and not take a forced break.
