Riot Games sent a package of gifts and a letter with kind words to a severely ill Twitch streamer who frequently showcases Valorant.
Who is it about? Kyedae Shymko is a 21-year-old streamer who often plays the tactical shooter Valorant from LoL developer Riot Games on Twitch.
On March 3, 2023, the streamer announced on Twitter that she had been diagnosed with leukemia. Shortly after, she explained in a stream that she had not told her fiancé about the diagnosis for a long time.
Kyedae’s fiancé is Valorant pro Tyson “TenZ” Ngo, who was participating in a major esports tournament at the time of the diagnosis. The streamer wanted to ensure that her long silence allowed him to focus on the game and his work.
Care package from Riot
What kind of package is this? Riot Games sent Kyedae two packages containing a selection of gifts and a letter with kind words. Kyedae read part of the letter during a livestream. In the letter, the developers of the tactical shooter wrote:
Hi Kyedae, our team has put together a few personal favorites that we love and find comforting. We hope they convey to you the same feeling of coziness and comfort that they do for us. This also includes some of our favorite items from Valorant and Riot.
The package included several collectible figures, which are limited to a quantity of 70, as well as a custom-designed bag.
“I don’t want to cry”
How did the streamer react to the gift? The streamer was visibly happy about the gifts from Riot Games but was also emotionally touched by the words in the letter.
After Kyedae looked at the contents of the packages, she continued to read the letter but interrupted herself after a few lines with the words:
“Okay, I don’t want to cry. I will not read this anymore. I am just not in the mood to cry.”
Kyedae is highly regarded in the Valorant community and has also stood out with a good heart. Nearly a year ago, in March 2022, she and her fiancé gifted a 15-year-old streamer a new PC after the girl’s father threw her long-saved computer into a pool.
