Twitch streamer Marcel “MontanaBlack Eris discovered the tactical shooter Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (Steam) in February. However, the 35-year-old hasn’t been particularly tactical, as he primarily opens loot boxes. Now he shows how much money he has spent on this “hobby”.
What relationship does MontanaBlack have with CS:GO? The Twitch streamer has been caught up in the Counter-Strike fever since the end of February 2023. During this time, he has already spent almost 300 hours in Valve’s shooter. However, he hardly plays in the traditional sense.
Instead, MontanaBlack dives into the “cases”: loot boxes that contain skins and stickers for weapons. These skins can quickly have the value of a sports car, but many are worth significantly less. In any case, the viewers are entertained with screams of joy or frustration.
In a recent stream, the 35-year-old showed how much money he has already invested in his new passion.
How much money has he spent? MontanaBlack asked his viewers to guess how much money he has already spent on CS:GO. At “over €20,000”, he could only smile tiredly: “Brother, you have no idea.”
He then revealed the actual sum: $104,177, which is more than €92,500. The extent of his spending seems to have caught the streamer off guard, as he quickly closes the window again.

How is that received? On YouTube, where the clip was posted on July 14, the reactions are mostly negative. Here are some of the top comments:

Nevertheless, an average of 20,000 people tune in when MontanaBlack plays CS:GO. For the 35-year-old, these streams seem to be quite profitable, even if not all fans are thrilled.
However, MontanaBlack does not lack opportunities to recoup the spent money. Besides the earnings from the CS:GO streams themselves, the streamer still has his new energy drink and the opportunity to gossip about other content creators while eating:
