On Pentecost Sunday, Marcel “MontanaBlack” Eris and the “Chief of Reports” Niclas M. caused a stir in Buxtehude during a joint stream on Twitch. The streamer received a lot of attention from viewers for the action, but also faced criticism.
Who was the Chief of Reports again? The 18-year-old Niclas M. became suddenly known in spring through a report by SpiegelTV about his unusual hobby. The self-proclaimed “Chief of Reports” made it his mission to report illegal parking in every German municipality.
Through reactions from numerous Twitch streamers, a wider audience became aware of the Chief of Reports. While some showed understanding, the majority seemed to be amused or irritated by the 18-year-old.
MontanaBlack issued a warning to the Chief of Reports: “Watch out, […] because it won’t be long before someone punches you in the face for this.”
Others condemned SpiegelTV and the Twitch streamers who had presented the 18-year-old to the angry online mob – especially when there was actually a physical assault on the Chief of Reports.
It then became quieter around Niclas M. – until he appeared in a joint stream with MontanaBlack on last Sunday, May 19, 2024.
MontanaBlack and the Chief of Reports stir up Buxtehude
What kind of stream was that? On Pentecost Sunday, MontanaBlack rode through Buxtehude with the Chief of Reports on a bicycle. Together, they even caught a few parking violators.
Furthermore, MontanaBlack asked his guest several questions: How does the Chief of Reports feel about his viral fame, and does he have a particular preference for traffic offenses?
The joint stream is not particularly surprising, as MontanaBlack had expressed his willingness to go out together back in March. However, not all viewers were thrilled by the action.
After all, the Twitch streamer had previously complained about the Chief of Reports or had publicly made fun of him (via X). So why a joint stream now? MontanaBlack likely anticipated this criticism, as he addressed potential comments right at the beginning of his stream.
MontanaBlack says he just wants to entertain
This is what MontanaBlack says: The streamer states that he is willing to overlook personal differences as long as good content is produced in the end. He just wants to “create entertainment on the internet.”
The Twitch streamer considers himself mature enough to provide entertainment with public figures he doesn’t agree with, according to MontanaBlack. When asked about it later, he can only repeat himself: If a combination promises good entertainment for the viewers, he is always open to projects.
Viewers suspect other motives
Overlooking personal disagreements for the sake of fans to provide them with great programming sounds nice at first. However, this does not resonate well with all viewers. “Nicomiklo45” writes on YouTube: “First hating, then celebrating… For clicks and money, some send their mom out into the world.”
Others also doubt the streamer’s mature attitude:
- MsAdler82: “What Monte is doing here is just beyond hypocritical; nothing more to say.”
- bootix_ger: “Monte’s leasing rate must have become expensive.”
- cylswar2212: “Probably ‘providing entertainment.’ Just say that the cash tastes good for what you’re doing.”
- WurstfachWilli: “As long as the clicks are right, right? The biggest parking violator who cries at the first ticket, and the guy… unbelievable.”
Other users criticize that MontanaBlack is giving a platform to a controversial figure like the Chief of Reports. Not to mention that Niclas M.’s mother had already requested that her son not be given a stage anymore (via Focus).
Still others simply can’t find anything appealing about the Chief of Reports and therefore do not want to see him in the stream.
Was there at least some content? The stream was definitely worthwhile for MontanaBlack. Almost 70,000 viewers followed the joint bike tour through Buxtehude, peaking at 81,000. This is quite a number even for one of the largest streamers on German Twitch: On average, MontanaBlack reaches 30,000 to 40,000 viewers (via SullyGnome).
Even without the Chief of Reports, MontanaBlack is currently seen more often cycling around than at his usual setup in the neon-lit gaming basement. The streamer says that especially now, with summer weather, he prefers to be outside. However, there is also a rather unpleasant reason why MontanaBlack currently doesn’t want to stream from home.
