Some of the biggest German Twitch streamers will be attending the Wok WM from ProSieben: foremost MontanaBlack: In a Twitch stream, he hinted at the participation months ago, but ironically. He said: He has no interest in it at all. Especially not with a ‘Ballermann loser’ like Knossi. Besides the two, Trymacs and Unsympathisch.TV will also be in the Wok.
What is the Wok WM? It was a show initiated by Stefan Raab, which Pro7 then held 13 times. It ran from 2003 to 2015.
Basically, it’s like luging, just with a wok: a device usually used for cooking.
More or less prominent individuals would luge down the track in the wok. For the overly ambitious Stefan Raab, it was another opportunity to compete with his rival Joey Kelly. In the end, however, the professional luger Georg Hackl typically won.
This is now the announcement: Pro7 brings back the Wok WM on November 12 and has recruited a team of German Twitch streamers:
- MontanaBlack – for a long time Germany’s largest streamer, so popular that he causes a mass gathering at Gamescom
- Knossi – someone who has always wanted to be on TV, and who was long popular through gambling streams. He had great success with events on Twitch.
- Trymacs – someone that many people watch opening packs in FIFA
- Unsympathisch.TV – he became known through comedy videos
MontanaBlack: “If I go, I’m going with cool people – Not with you”
This is now the gag: The streamers knew months ago that they would participate in the Wok WM, but kept it secret for a long time.
Already two months ago, MontanaBlack and Knossi talked about it in a Twitch stream.
Then Knossi asked his friend MontanaBlack how it would be if they went to the Wok WM. However, MontanaBlack completely denied it, although he stumbled at the beginning and almost let the cat out of the bag.
“How will the Wok WM be for us? – Oh, right. If we – ah, no. I imagine that to be crap. So if I go, I would go with cool people, not with you. […] With you, the show is over, brother. You’re no longer in the hype. You’ve become a Ballermann loser.”
MontanaBlack to Knossi
The names of Trymacs and Unsympathisch.tv are also mentioned. Apparently, Knossi and MontanaBlack were already having fun knowing something that was only supposed to come to light months later.
There is an interesting interaction between TV and Twitch. Knossi has managed to celebrate great successes on Twitch with TV-like events in recent years. Conversely, it seems that TV is trying to reach a younger generation by being close to Twitch. However, this has not really succeeded yet:
