TwitchCon Europe 2025 has kicked off in Rotterdam. During the opening ceremony, numerous new features and improvements were announced.
How should spending money be fun? Twitch offers viewers numerous ways to support their favorite streamers. In addition to Subs and Cheers, there will also be Combos in the future. These are a type of emote that viewers can exchange for bits.
If a Combo is used often enough, animations are activated that take over the entire chat.
Twitch aims to create an accessible and fun way for fans to give money to their favorite streamers – but not everyone can cash in.
What’s the catch? The ability to monetize one’s stream has so far been reserved for streamers who have reached Affiliate or Partner status. This year, freshly minted streamers are set to also gain access to Subs and Bits, the official revenue sources on Twitch.
However, to cash out the money, streamers still must first reach at least Affiliate status and gather a minimum of $50.
Here too, Twitch announces improvements: Streamers will be able to spend their earnings on purchases on Twitch, such as gift subs, even if they haven’t yet reached the threshold. Those who prefer to save are also in luck, as the requirements for Affiliate status are being lowered.

To give viewers an idea of the Combos, Twitch decided to make a special exception: Monetization on the official channel was temporarily activated so that viewers could spam Combos in the chat to their heart’s content. This is what the Combo looked like:
