The streaming platform Twitch has apparently struck a big deal with the fast-food giant McDonald’s. However, it did not go according to plan. The Twitch streamer Tucker “JERICHO” Boner was supposed to promote the deal, but he misspoke and mentioned Whoppers.
Who is that? The streamer Tucker “JERICHO” Boner has about 1.1 million followers on Twitch. He is a variety streamer who plays all kinds of games. Last week he was playing Borderlands 3, CS:GO, and the “Untitled Goose Game.” Occasionally, he also cooks on Twitch.
According to his own statements, he was supposed to be the poster child for a deal between Twitch and McDonald’s. The deal seems to have been arranged for him by Twitch.
Streamer confuses Whopper with Big Mac – big mistake
What went wrong? JERICHO said at the beginning of the campaign in his stream that McDonald’s was one of the few companies he would work with.
They sent him a suitcase with 100 golden “Whopper-Coins” last year for the 50th anniversary of the Whopper.
He realizes immediately that it was not a Whopper, the famous burger from Burger King, but a “Big Mac” and “Big Mac” coins, but by then it was already too late.
He tried to explain: Someone had written “Whopper” in the chat and he had seen that, he was just an idiot – and oh.

It’s like accidentally calling the teacher “Mommy”
This is what the streamer says: In another stream, JERICHO says it was a “Freudian slip,” just like accidentally calling your teacher “Mommy.” He noticed it immediately, but it was already too late.
Jericho explaining how he messed up McDonald sponsorship from r/LivestreamFail
Streamer is temporarily sidelined
According to JERICHO:
- McDonald’s was very angry – it could also have legal dimensions
- The important people at Twitch who had closed the deal were very angry – it was the first campaign of this magnitude between Twitch and McDonald’s
- It was actually planned for JERICHO to be prominently featured – that has probably been canceled
- Twitch apparently informed him that they would not use him for such sponsored deals for the “foreseeable future” – he is in the dog house

Error could cost Twitch a lot of money
The streamer says it was a mistake. But a big mistake. And such a mistake cannot be afforded when working with the biggest companies in the world.
JERICHO explains that because of the mistake, Twitch might now lose the McDonald’s deal and a lot of money. He takes full responsibility for it.
He says he won’t be making deals with companies for a long, long time.
The streaming service Twitch has been able to further expand its market-leading position in the last 3 months:
