Imane “Pokimane” Anys is considered the queen of Twitch. Recently, the streamer introduced her new company for healthy yet tasty snacks, but instead of enjoying delicious cookies, fans have primarily been concerned about the price.
What are the cookies all about? On November 13, Pokimane introduced her company Myna Snacks along with the first product: The “Midnight Mini Cookies” promise “healthy” chocolate enjoyment, gluten-free, preservative-free, and enriched with vitamin D.
In an interview with USA Today, the streamer lamented a lack of tasty yet healthy food options: “When I wanted a delicious snack, it was full of unhealthy stuff. When I found something healthy, it was disgusting.” She shared this problem with Darcey Macken, the co-founder of the company who has been working with consumer goods for 15 years.
How much are the cookies supposed to cost? On the website, the cookies are available in packs of 4, 8, or 12 bags, each weighing about 114 grams. Without a subscription, the price for the four-pack is $28, approximately €25.50. 8 bags cost about €51, and 12 bags are available for €76.50 – the last two packs also come without shipping costs.
According to comments on X, formerly Twitter, many find this too expensive. Especially since fans discovered similar cookies from the same manufacturer at a significantly cheaper price. Pokimane explained that she improved the existing recipe and added vitamin D (via X).
“The perhaps worst way she could have reacted”
How did Pokimane respond to the criticism? In a stream on November 18, Pokimane addressed the criticism of the prices of her healthy cookies. She justified the costs by stating that it is, after all, about several bags.
If people say “Oh my God, $28 for cookies” – it’s 4 bags, that’s $7 per bag. I know, math is hard when you’re an idiot. But if you’re broke, just say it.
This statement, however, did not improve the situation. In the comments under the clip on X, users labeled the streamer as “insensitive” and “aloof.” One user even claimed that this might be the worst way Pokimane could have reacted (via X).
This is how Pokimane responds to the renewed criticism: On X, the streamer published a statement on November 20, explaining that the remarks were regarding a single unfriendly chatter, not her entire community.
She also emphasized that it was merely a joke. The streamer promised to continue considering the pricing to keep her snacks “as affordable as possible”.
