A man has filed a lawsuit against the streaming platform Twitch in a California court. The man claims he suffers from a sex addiction. Twitch has purportedly fueled and exacerbated this addiction by showing female streamers behaving sexually suggestively, such as Pokimane, Alinity, or Amouranth.
This is the lawsuit: On June 15, a man filed a lawsuit against Twitch in the Santa Clara court in California.
The plaintiff states:
- He is sex-addicted.
- Twitch is his only source of entertainment during the Covid-19 pandemic – he almost never leaves his house, only doing the essentials.
- Twitch bombards him with female streamers – there is no way to avoid them. There is no filter to only show male streamers.
- Due to excessively sexualized content, Twitch has significantly intensified the plaintiff’s sex addiction. This leads to harm.
The plaintiff states he follows 786 female streamers and not a single male one.
What does he mean by over-sexualized content? The plaintiff presents a large gallery of black-and-white photos of Twitch streamers behaving sexually suggestively in his eyes in his 56-page lawsuit (via scribd).
This ranges from sticking out tongues, to slinking in front of the camera, to body painting by the streamer MizzyRose (featured image).
Many of the larger Twitch female streamers are seen in these photos, including Alinity, Pokimane, or Amouranth.
What damage has the plaintiff suffered? The plaintiff warns the court that this is now somewhat figurative and then describes the effects of his sex addiction:
- Essentially, he masturbates so much that he has genital pain.
- His eyes hurt because he stares at breasts for hours.
- His PC has been damaged because bodily fluids got inside. There seems to have been a short circuit and apartment fire.
The plaintiff demands banning of female streamers and a high penalty sum
These are his demands to the court: The plaintiff demands 25 million US dollars: The money should be divided between the plaintiff and other Twitch Prime Turbo subscribers. If anything is left, it should go to charity.
Additionally, all female streamers he has listed should be permanently banned.
As Dotesports reports, the man is a serial plaintiff. He has already sued Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo, and Blizzard Entertainment. However, all his lawsuits have been rejected by the courts.
How female streamers present themselves on Twitch is often a topic in the community. Some believe that certain women intentionally exploit their sexual appeal to secure donations and subscriptions. Those who are outraged by this consider it wrong and demand Twitch to intervene with bans and penalties.
An incident involving a dog particularly stirred emotions. Even the animal rights organization PETA demanded that Twitch intervene:
