Twitch has particularly highlighted four German streaming events in a statement, but one of the biggest streamers was not praised.
These streams were especially highlighted by Twitch: On April 24, 2025, Twitch revealed some exciting insights into the platform’s statistics. The platform’s data shows that German streamers attract the most viewers when they host special events.
Among the biggest German streams that Twitch particularly highlighted in 2024 were:
- eliasn97 (Final of the Icon League)
- ballerleague (Season 1 Finale)
- RevedTV (Stream Awards 2023 & 2024)
- Amar (VIEWINGPARTY BOSS FNCS FINALS)
The Baller League and the Icon League are futsal leagues in which various streamers and other public figures participate and compete with their own teams. However, these teams do not consist of streamers who have never played football themselves, but rather actual football players who are signed by the respective teams for the league.
The Stream Awards organized by Reved, on the other hand, is an annual award ceremony that honors German streamers and special moments from their streams. However, Reved has since withdrawn from streaming.

Which streamer missed out? Kevin “Papaplatte” Teller is one of the biggest streamers in Germany. The 28-year-old streamer had the most watch time on German Twitch in 2024 after Elias Nerlich (eliasn97) and has the third most followers on the streaming platform after MontanaBlack and Trymacs.
Papaplatte himself organizes some big events that regularly attract tens of thousands of viewers on Twitch, including his caravan trip, the “Edeltour”, where he was at one point one of the biggest Twitch streamers in the world.
However, Twitch did not give the streamer a special mention – unlike the Stream Awards, where he won the award for best duo with his good friend BastiGHG. The previous year, Papaplatte even won too many awards at the ceremony, which attracted criticism from other streamers.
LoL dominates German Twitch, but GTA is even more popular
How Germany performs on Twitch: Twitch also provided some insights into which games are popular in Germany and how Germany performs compared to other countries.
In the entire DACH area – that is, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland – over 49 million hours of gaming content were streamed. Viewers spent more than 1.3 billion hours in front of their screens watching streamers play various games.
Germany thus has the most streamed hours as well as the second most viewed hours in the EMEA region (Economic Area Europe).
What games do viewers prefer to watch? League of Legends was especially popular in Germany. Streamers like NoWay4u and Tolkin stand out, but also HandOfBlood, Trymacs, and Broeki. In international comparison, however, the MOBA had to yield to GTA V and its roleplay community.
Additionally, the shooters Call of Duty, Fortnite, and Valorant were very popular on Twitch – just like the crowd favorite Minecraft, which was still watched for 379 million hours worldwide in 2024. Currently, Minecraft is popular not only on Twitch but also in theaters. However, the biggest problem of the film sits in front of the screens: The film adaptation of Minecraft has a major problem, and that is not the film, but the viewers.
